Shawne Merriman All Pro year one and barely age 21.

I hope Ware grows into the potential. He has long term edge pass rush skills.

Merriman was the safer and better pick at #11. And its playing out that way so far on the field.

No beef with Spears pick #20 Pick....

I'll give him this offseason to learn the 3-4 and bulk up. (Ware that is)

ware needs to learn how to do a swim move or a 360 move or something like that.

watching him try to bull rush these 330 pound tackles is not fun to watch.

would love to see us scratch the 3-4. We run the most vanilla 3-4 of the teams that use the scheme.

Merriman has played not only in the 3-4 but also the position of OLB in college so he has less to learn. I think this was just 'joe fan' looking at those high sack numbers and thinking he belongs. Has he been asked to do anything other than rush the qb? He is playing in an attacking 3-4 and not the watered down version we are playing here. I doubt his numbers would be anywhere near what they are if he were a cowboy.

I think now is the time to renew those get rid of Zimmer threads.. We need a Def Coordinator that has experience and knows what he's doing and not learning as he goes along. So far he has not schemed to his players strengths only to hide some of their areas that need improvement.

I agree - I have stayed out of the fire Zimmer threads. If he doesn't step up with D last 2 games he's out. There are a lot of younger Parcells tree coaches out there versed in 3-4 that would take a dream DC job.

Where is the link that says he was named All Pro this year?

Def Coordinator might just be what the doctor ordered.

Hahaha

I still say Ware is still learning.

Seriously though, think about this..and yes, I do understand Parcells provides some insight to how we run our 3-4

But

Look who his coach is, Mike Zimmer, a guy who was questionable in a 4-3 defense. He has never run a 3-4 defense so what exactly does he have to offer Ware?

Zimmer's schemes are too passive...we need the 2003 version of Zimmer to come back.

I gurantee you if we had Gregg Williams or another innovative DC, Ware and Roy Williams would be unleashed and be more productive.

But...we are stuck with gushy zone coverages which either the players themselves dont understand or the coaches arent teaching them.

Go look at the first TD by Cooley, Ware was on him and Ware followed him inside, but once Cooley broke to the outside, Ware looked lost, kind of like he thought somebody was going to be over to pick him up.

That Washington Game reminded me of the Miami Game on Thanksgiving where we played all these stupid prevent type zone coverages because Zimmer was so afraid of (Chambers, Ricky, and their TE (his name escapes me at the moment)) and played all these zones where guys like Roy Williams was even confused.

Im coming out now and saying our greatest need is at Defensive Coordinator. Yep, more pressing then linebacker, Tackle, etc etc.

Unfortunately he's on the AFC pro bowl team..

I understand that....

Generally speaking, All-Pro is a little harder to make then the "Fashionable picked filled Pro Bowl".

Staubach went to 6 PBs but 0 All-Pro
Smith went to 8 PBs but was named All-Pro 4 times

I have alot more respect for All-Pro Selections then I do Pro Bowls, unless it is a guys first year where generally, when you get selected to the Pro Bowl the 1st year, you normally deserved it.

It is the 2nd...3rd and so forth that is called into question...See Larry Allen and Roy Williams

Zimmers doing exactly what Parcells tells him to do or he wouldn't be here.

Zimmer doesnt know how to run any complex 3-4 schemes. we need to bring in a real 3-4 guy at DC.

Think so?

I maybe a little naive here, but why do I see him yelling at Payton and Zimmer on the sidelines then.

Believe me, there is enough footage showing that.

I know I wouldnt yell at somebody for doing something I JUST got through telling them to do and it didnt work...that would be pretty foolish...

unless im looking for....

The biggest thing that is holding up Ware is Zimmer.
