Mel Kiper Mock Draft

I know it's not a sexy pick and everyone wants to fix the defense, but if their OL continues this downward slope, they won't be able to compete. Drafting a high level, versatile lineman makes all the sense considering the age of the group.

Dallas is not a corner or linebacker away.

They need to take the best player.. We got about 3 years of mediocrity before we can get back to where we thought we were before this season.

You mean like David Carr? How did he turn out with no help?. Mental makeup ,Trevor Lawrence comes off looking like a freaking Barbie Doll and you telling me about Mental Makeup? QB is the leader of the team, not Miss America. Same about Gabbert had this pretty blonde surfer persona and flopped. It's leadership and worrying about your hair has nothing to do with it. Give me Tom Brady who hates to lose vs Barbie Doll the Clemson Version.
Guess we'll see.

At least now I understand your prejudices.
Like that Ohio State fan in another thread, you seem to think Lawrence will bust because he has long blond hair.
Now THAT's a deeeep scouting assessment!
:lmao:
Has to be the shallowest, most superficial, prejudiced, non-football related account of a player I have ever seen in this forum. Based on literally nothing of substance.

Toughness and mental makeup are two of Lawrence's top "intangible" qualities by ALL accounts of anyone that has played with or coached him.

It's fine if you don't like him as a player or even that he's a Christian or whatever.....but his hair?

agree to disagree

They need to take quarterback but you know they won’t.

That would be the smart move for better or worse imo.

Mediocrity awaits us though.. The thought of not signing a decent QB to a mega contract still can’t be comprehended by most but there is a mountain of evidence is piling up against doing it.

Are you guys advocating taking Slater at 10 comfortable with using the 2nd round pick on a CB who will almost certainly have to start in 2021? I am still thinking, because they are allowing all of their CBs to hit free agency in a 2 year span they almost have to take a CB, and only if the two top CBs are gone would they look at offense - although then trading down might still be the best option.

I get it. Last year the OL was pretty horrible. But I am not going to assume that Collins, Martin and Smith are not coming back. I think if they are back, they are still good enough for one more year. It would be nice to have 5 first round picks up front, but it is not necessary. Until we know more about Collins and Smith, I think we still need to be focused on the defense.

Yeah we will see, how many long haired QB have had success in the last 20 years in the NFL?

Deep assessment it's the truth. Why is it in the military very first thing they do to recruits is buzz their hair?. Take away ego, individuality, form as a team. You want America's Next Top Model and I want a QB who is not worried what his hair looks like. Physically Lawrence has traits but it is going to come to his character traits. I see a soft spoken guy who like Marcus Mariota try to not upset anyone. He is a Christian Athlete well he better be a vocal leader and I don't see it. Give me a QB who gets upset and hates to lose

Mac Jones would be outstanding with our receivers.

You don't even know if he'll keep long hair. He has played with it shorter.

But how can you ever be taken serious about judging a player if your main criteria is length of efffing hair.
How can anyone ever take you serious?

Montana was fairly "barbie-looking" in 1981, btw.

I want a QB not a guy who looks like he is trying out for cheerleader. I see another Blaine Gabbert. You look at the highlights not much difference between them. I'm sure Gabbert's high school and college coaches can talk of how great Gabbert is. It comes down Character Leadership traits not worrying about your hair and how you look on TV.

That's 1981. You having to go all the way back to Montana & Stabler from 70s & 80s proves I'm right and how many pics of Tom Brady with short hair holding the Vince Lombardi?.....My bet? YOU LOVED TONY ROMO?.

I'd prefer he cut his hair shorter too because it seems like it might be hot and a distraction. But I think you have misevaluated this prospect for all the wrong reasons.

Everyone that knows Lawrence...especially his teammates....say he is a ruthless competitor and a great leader and teammate.

So if he goes back to his early high school buzzcut, will he all of a sudden become a better football player? Can you honestly say that with a straight face?

This guy is WAY more like Roger Staubach than Broadway Joe. WAY more like Roger. Come to think of it, like Roger, he's even going to marry his high school sweetheart in the next few weeks. Not a skirt chaser at all. Dude is ready to focus on football.

Like we both said...agree to disagree.

If Farley is off the board, a offensive player probably will be the best player available.

To much money and resources invested in the offensive line while we neglect the defense. The offensive line without Tyron, Collins and Martin is better then our defensive tackles, linebackers, and secondary. We have a bad football team.:omg::facepalm:

The OL is the most important unit on a football team. We just saw what happens when your Tackle goes down, they are season wreckers. Relying on Tyron Smith to stay healthy is a extremely risky, it's kind of like how we were with Sean Lee a few years ago. Team cannot just hold their breath every time is gets up slow. With the division being real good along the defensive line, now is the time counter their strength. This offensive line hasn't been great in sometime, if they want to be able to compete against the best teams they need the horses up front to do so.

There is still plenty of picks to address the defense. The value is actually better on day 2. In my opinion, the decision is going to come down to taking either a corner/tackle or finding a trade down partner.

Yes because he will be more focused on football than his looks. Instead of worrying or playing with his hair, he can tighten his game. Just look at leadership throughout businesses. You set the example, the divas can be the WRs . The true leader is the QB and looking like Pam Anderson on Baywatch ain't gonna cut it as a leader. Just like I couldn't stand Tony Romo's personality. He acted like a Mama's Boy trying to look gangsta with his hat on backwards. I use to say this about Romo. " Does he remind you of a QB or a guy who should be in a Boy Band"?

Just think of the heckles that his own teammates will hear from opposing defenders ..." Hey Precious"!!! " Barbie come play with me"... " Oh Sweetie, don't mess a pretty hair on your head or break a fingernail". I played DT,DE,TE,and LB in high school and I would be getting in his head and his teammates questioning him. Saying other stuff I can't say here. LOL!!

We had the best offensive line in the game from 2014 until 2017 and what did that give us? We need a balance. Time to invest in the defense.

So Brady needs to stay off those GQ and fashion mag covers if he ever hopes to win something.
Got it

Same with Mahomes and all his commercials...including the shampoo ones.
Got it

Yeah Brady's teammates ragged him about GQ and Brady plays it off right with humor. Does Tom Brady look like some CheeseD&^k like Fabio? Trevor Lawrence does....... Mahomes has a great arm and comes off real person, not trying to be pretty

If I was an opposing team I would play this everytime Trevor Lawrence started to enter the game.
