Figured we could start a new thread.

Henry Melton made it to Dallas, where he'll visit with the #Cowboys this week. Was negotiating with #Seahawks last night, others in the mix

.@HenMel did NOT 'finalize deal' w #Seahawks last nite. Is back in DFW. #Cowboys w tentative Mon/Tue visit plan. Other bidders, too

It would be JUST like Jones to scoop March Madness (selections today) by having a press conference today to announce a Melton signing....while his vanity has no ends, this is one time where I wouldn't mind it!

Kind of need this to get done. I'm just sickened by the current state of our DL. Would just be really nice to have one known stud.

Not sure about "stud", but at least there would be a better sense of security.

Interesting thought. But I think the visit is actually scheduled tomorrow. Read elsewhere the coaches are not even in town until then.

We are just at that point where if he cannot be secured, we are locked into a situation where we almost absolutely have to draft a defensive tackle in the first round, without question. That is a bad bad boat to be in.

Well, the depth at the DL position is such that they have to draft a DL regardless. Yeah, Melton signing would offer some flexibility, but the DL position needs an upgrade regardless of how the Melton thing goes.

I see, but the games don't actually start until Wednesday (I believe) so he can still "1 up" the most media-hyped event of the month....can't EVER discount the jones narcissism factor :D

i am sure that he was a stud.....at least his last full season in the league. in '12, he was ranked as the #1 DT in run stop % and 5th in terms of pressure %. he's young and if it wasn't for that injury, he'd easily be a top 10 FA.

I know this will be a draft to rebuild the whole line. But not getting Melton pretty much makes DT a first round lock. It takes away the option of an OL or S or even DE.

I would rather have the draft come to us rather than be desperate for a position as specific.

I agree with that. I would like enough left over cap space to at least attempt to sign Ayers. Is Ayers a "stud" DE? No. But I would have more faith in him than virtually any DE on the Cowboys rosters including Selvie.
