Having been on this forum for almost 16 years, lurking for some/forgetting my password and the email associated with the account I've had a few years where I couldn't sign in lol.

Obviously over time posters come and go for various reasons. Bans, fallouts with others, or simply lose the time to post with life etc...

Pretty crazy to go back to the pages back to when I joined and only see a handful of posters that are still active.

This had been on my mind recently, and with it being the offseason figured I post this.
Anyone know anything about @Nightman?

Hate to go all tinfoil/wild reach but he stopped posting on May 31-2019-same day of the Virigina Beach shooting. Kind of odd for him as he was an active 365 poster from what I could recall. Especially with a few months later Jaylon Smith signed his extension and he was still awol from here. With him being a huge poster regarding the cap I just found it odd he just disappeared from here.

Unless a poster tells us what's going on or another knows them personally, we don't usually know what happens to them.

That's why I like the posters that are going though some times to post that in the OTZ like several have with health issues or family members in peril.

And some just get mad and leave. I understand Yosemite Sam got pissed and left and I miss him, he was a lot of fun.

And then some are escorted to the edge of the forest and asked not to return.

Over the years, lots of posters have come and gone. Some of the very best posters I've ever seen on any board, have come and gone from this place. Some, because of the changes that have occurred over the years. Some, because life just got busy, things happen and sometimes time becomes less available. Some, because life gets harder, some because life changes, kids, grandkids, parents or relatives, lots of things. Life just kinda takes you away from the game and sometimes, they do return. Sometimes, it's changes in a person, you get to a point where the things that may have held appeal may be replaced by other things. Sometimes we just lose people, sometimes people pass on.

There is a thread dedicated to one such poster, one of the best people you could ever meet online. Was a Mod here for many years. He passed on.

I've been on this board for many, many years now. This board used to be a very small board, like invite only. Couldn't get on unless somebody invited you to join. The poster who brought me on, he went by Chief. He too was a Mod here at one time. Great, great guy. Knowledgable, intelligent, really great with people, everything I'm not. LOL........ He doesn't really post anymore, things change.

Lots of really great posters, they move on. I think you just have to appreciate the time you get with cool people and if you can, take it forward.

Lastly, I would say that I've very rarely ever seen this Staff just send people packing, never to return. I can count those people on one hand, with room to spare. Reality and the Staff always allow for people to make amends an provide a path for return. It's usually the decision of the poster, for reasons of their own choosing, that they do not return. It's hardly ever a hard call. You gotta really screw up to get to that point with this Staff. Lots of really great people help run this board. All of them were posters before they were Mods and all of them, they have their own lives that they have to deal with, while still volunteering time to this place. Sometimes, the community forgets that.

The Emperor, Shock and Awe, Daboysrule (not to be confused with “sis”)...just a few names off the top of my head.

Hey CC, just started a PJG thread in the Members Zone, but it says ‘awaiting Mod approval’ for some reason. Nothing offensive, just irreverent. Check into it?

Me too.

Man, we used to mess around late night on the old site, lots of fun and jeers and sometimes tears. Great people, and I miss the ones who disappeared. Of course, part of it is, I can't stay up that late anymore. Going to work on 4 hours sleep used to be a thing of pride, now it just sucks!!!

There were some Friday nights I felt alone on the old site, or maybe just being ignored? I actually would respond to my own posts and thought about reporting myself a couple of times, I could get a little personal with me.

I wish all the members had come over here. It was a little tough getting acclimated here and the posters already here saw the great migration first hand and for some, that had to be a little bit of a strain with so many of us. But I know for some, change is a bad thing. We had our own thing going there and it was never going to be the same. I was already used to forced change.

I had been here earlier and didn't like it, my act didn't play well here but once this was the only real choice and I gave the posters here a chance, they still voted me off the island!!!! To hell with them, I'm staying!

It is fascinating to only know people through their writing. And with that comes that old inferred v implied issue but reading v hearing gives us time for response v reaction.

It was so fun when we'd do that. We could say whatever came to our mind or got the conversation going. It didn't matter what the thread was.
