Worth nothing he carried 11 times for 30 yards tonight. Anyone see the game to comment on how he looked? Statistically at least, not a very good showing.

Sorry for the non-Cowboys post ... but I think the Jones-Mendenhall stuff is worth keeping an eye on. Early lead definitely to Felix. :)

I didn't see the game I wanted to look up his stats and see but when i went to game Center I forgot what I went there for looked at Sweed stats and closed the box. Sweed had 2 catches for 9 yards.

He didn't tear up at all only his 2nd game so far his stats re

18 carries for 64 yards.

I expect more from him but well just have to wait and see.

He did have a TD

I only watched one drive. He shook off a tackle at the LOS for a nice gain, then scored easily on a draw play a few plays later.

A quick glance at NFL.com's play by play, it looks like he had a pair of 9-yard runs, a 6-yard run and a bunch of 0-to-2-yard carries. I think he netted about 3 yards on his first four runs.

I didn't see the game, but according to the box score, he got half those yards on 2 carries. That translates to a whopping 1.6 ypc on his other 9 carries. He also didn't have a single reception.

I know it's unfair to judge a player after 2 preseason games, but I just get the feeling that he's cedric benson all over again.

When we passed on Mendenhall, I really feared we passed on the better player. Maybe we'd have a better "fit," but that we'd be seeing Mendenhall tear it up, even in a backup role.

So far, I haven't been impressed. I watched his first game and he had one nice run, got hammered, and didn't show anything again. The stats tonight are very pedestrian. At the very least, he's certainly not giving me any "OH MY GOD WHAT DID WE DO!?!?" worries. He might be a nice back, but he's not making make regret taking Felix in the least.

We'll see if that holds true in a few months.

I think Mendenhall is the better back so we'll see. I think a lot of people expect AP type numbers from some of these rookies.

AP numbers and a sub-3.0 average are two very different things. :)

tru what I meant was I don't expect him to tear it up every game. Every players has an off game. They are all still rookies its cool to gauge where they are at right now however preseason is no indicator of success during the regular season.

Difference is, you can see a players potential to do great in these games.

Mendenhalls biggest problem has been toughness, and the will to play football. His own coach has called him out, and yet he has shown really nothing in the toughness department this pre-season.

Unless that changes, he's not going to even put up 700 yards rushing.

I went down to the game tonight, aside from the fact my tickets were free, I was bored ****less, I can't get into games without my Cowboys involved.

Mendenhall looked pretty good. He looks bigger than he did in college, he gets to the outside pretty easily with his speed. Last night, he looked explosive on the one 9 yard run. On the td, he wasn't touched but he kind of just fell over the goal line because he was exhausted from running a few times on that drive. They showed him on the sideline and he was absolutely gassed. I've watched both his games and the one knock so far is that he turns his back when there's contact rather than trying to run someone over, and he definitely has the size to take on defenders.
He's played a ton the first few games, so the Steelers are definitely going to use him to spell Parker. They want to use him with Parker but his blocking needs to improve.

I know this isn't a Cowboy post but it seems some of you are interested.

I think Mendenhall will do a very good job for Pitt but not sure what is has to do with Dallas? We got the guy we wanted, I really don't get the looking backwards all time around here. Cowboys got their guy Felix Jones
