Let's face it folks, the fact that Jones even got ANY carries at Arkansas with McFadden at running back, says a lot more about Felix Jones, than it does the two time runner up Heisman candidate/ #4 overall pick in the draft, Darren McFadden. Be real.

If the Steelers draft so much better than the Cowboys, why aren't they the better team?

You may be over looking recent Cowboy history, we haven't always been a 13 win team in the last decade, the Steelers won a Superbowl just 4 years ago.

Recent history is more relevant to the discussion.

... that's what I said. Or is 4 years too long a time period because it doesn't help your point?

I think these 2 guys may be looked at, compared throughout their careers by Cowboys fans much the same way Shawne Marriman and DeMarcus Ware are.

Here's to hoping that is the case, because nobody lost on that deal.

Yes, they have Marion Barber on board, but the idea that any running back pair has to be a "thunder-and-lightning" combination is just silly.

Last time I checked, the Vikings didn't need a workhorse, grind-it-out type last year. They had Chester Taylor to do that stuff -- who had just signed a four-year deal with the team and was coming off a 1,200-yard season -- already. They took Adrian Peterson anyway. How'd that work out for them?

He is way off here, unless he thinks that Mendenhall is as good as Peterson. They are NOT the same. If Peterson had been sitting there, you can be sure that we would have taken him over Felix.

I truly can't say that the Cowboys made the right move. At least chemistry wise, I'm sure they did...talent wise...we will see.

Actually, Ohio State IS a cupcake for the SEC..

Jarvis Moss after the Gators smoked the mighty Buckeyes in the SEC Invitational...

"Honestly, we've played a lot better teams than them," Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss said. "I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them (Ohio State) and play the same type of game (aka the beatdown) we did against them."

PS. Emmitt wanted me to remind the pro-Mendenhall crowd that little-10 stud Blair Thomas was drafted ahead of him in 1990.

Careful, a Big Ten team (Michigan) smoked the Gators last year. Other than that, yes, the SEC is better. We digress.

If you go back that far, you are talking about drafts from 2001 and prior (3 year rule). Clearly, the Cowboys have changed the way they have drafted since that time. I'm comparing recent drafts (Parcells era and post-Parcells). Our drafts are comparable to what the Steelers have done over that same period.

LSU shouldn't have even been in the title game but lets not get started on that. Ohio State would have destroyed Florida if Ted Ginn JR doesn't get injured on the TD celebration.

Now we REALLY digress. We must have not been watching the game. I work with a few Buckeye grads and have family members who went there too--none would say something so crazy. That game was a giant mismatch....at least on that day.

Okay, I'm off topic and logic has gone way out the window here.

It seemed like everyone beat the Gators last year. They really fell off.

In that case you're comparing Apples to Oranges, I don't think the point of what he said was to say the Steelers are a better drafting team but to indicate that the Steelers good record with early picks suggest that Mendenhall too, will be a success.

I read it as the Steelers picking better players and better character guys. I would counter that the Cowboys' picks have been comparable to the Steelers' picks. The Steelers also do draft players with character problems as well. They drafted Santonio Holmes in the first round despite having know character issues. He also got in trouble after as a member of the Steelers. The guy is one more arrest away from a one year vacation.

The statement that Mendenhall must be better since Pittsburgh drafted him is ridiculous.

I stand corrected. I was recalling the 41 points for Michican more than what UofF scored. I rarely defend Michigan, so maybe it was bad kharma to try.

I agree with your point (the Steelers have certainly drafted better than the Cowboys for the last decade), but I make it my personal mission to always point out that the Steelers were given a trophy this decade. They didn't win anything.
