Reading thru some threads and in draft articles around the web, this thing about Brandon Meriweather is really starting to bother me. Everyone keeps sayin he has character issues, but I really don't see any myself. He has no police record, arrests, or anything of that nature.
People keep bringing up the Brawl, and yes he was seriously wrong for his actions, but to take that one incident and generalize it as a person havin issues is wrong. He's a 20-something year old guy, I'm 28 and I know that if that same thing would've happened to me and my teammates on the field I woulda been right in there tryin to defend them like he was. I probably wouldn't have been tryin to hit someone with my helmet, THAT's too much. It was a mistake and one I think he understands and is sorry for, so I have no problem with him being involved in the fight.
The other incident that is always brought up is the gun thing. Well, the gun was legally registered, he fired in self defense (everyone forgets to include that he fired at some guys who had just shot a teammate), and every action that he took was perfectly legal. That's why no charges were pressed.
Becuz he's from the U, everyone automatically just thinks this guy is a thug. It's a stereotype, The U has such a negative connotation in the media that people just automatically say he's a bad egg. I hope we did some research on this guy and I hope that he does fall to us in the 2nd round, cuz I believe he'll be a player.
This isn't Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, or Tank Johnson, this is a guy who was captain of the squad and made one mistake. I don't remember hearing anything about him being in any trouble until the brawl happened. Give him a break.
Sorry for the long post, just had to get that off my chest
