If you were to ask fans and players of 31 NFL teams not named Dallas Cowboys who was better they'd tell you Shawn Merriman.

The problem with you guys debating on a Cowboys forum who the better player was is that when a guy would have an argument in favor of the non Cowboys player(Merriman) 23,486 homers would jump on him.

This is a Cowboys board. No way in hell was there a fair debate.

I dont agreee with that. ARE has been playing pretty good actually - better than I thought he would. I dont know if you have seen any Skins game this year but Brunell is absolutely killing us. He cant throw the ball longer than 20 yards more than once a game and the only WR he throws it to is Moss. Also 90-95% of his passes are dumpoffs. I was at both the Tennessee and Jacksonville games and Brandon Lloyd was open so many times downfield. Brunell didnt even look in his direction.

At what point do you start questioning the playcalling and coaching? The QB can't be choosing his dumpoff reciever on EVERYPLAY without the coaching staff chewing his butt out right? Or can he because that's what the coaching staff is calling for him to do?

I certainly have my concerns that a high number of players are flying under the radar with performance-enhancers. With that said, there's still an undeniable black eye associated with being caught using them.

Some say, 'Who cares? Let 'em use them if it enhances the product on the field.' Others say it's wrong ethically and a bad example to set.

Regardless, players who are caught are -- by and large -- forever tainted.

Five years from now this may be forgotten. But right now, I'm sure glad we're not having to wonder what we'll do without our star linebacker and whether he'll ever be the same player if he returns steroid-free.

I'm of the opinion that Merriman is a more dynamic player. His motor is always running and he plays wreckless. I think Ware is more versatile and better "overall" but doesn't impact the feel of the game as much as Merriman can. I guess by that I mean Merriman's energy and overall reckless play seems to usually make good things happen.

But all of that is out the window these next four weeks, and I'm sure Charger fan is scratching his head right now.

Agree with this, and this is what I believe also. Merriman brings a fire and intensity to the game that can't be measured in stats. Now, we don't know if that was roid induced or not, but he had it.

I believe they both have strengths, except now we don't know what Merriman will be now.

DeMarcus may be better in coverage than Merriman but Merriman is A LOT better in pass rushing that it doesnt matter. Merriman is also pretty impressive against the run. The only advantage to Ware I would give is in coverage and thats only because Merriman sucks in coverage.
