Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been notified he will be suspended for four games for violating the NFL's steroids and related substances policy, league and team sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Merriman's positive test was "definitely for steroids … not one of those supplement deals," said a source with knowledge of Merriman's suspension.

Here is my 2 cents for what its worth on Merriman being suspended for steroids and apparently not the kind in a dietary supplement or cough syrup or whatever other excuse they come up with sometimes.
I am amazed at the utter stupidity or maybe it is arrogance of this guy. I beleive many athletes would ignore the long term consequences and do whatever it takes to get an edge--look at past steroid abuses. But in todays NFL how did Merriman think he wasnt going to get caught? Either he is very stupid or very arrogant to think he would get away with it.
This is equivalent to a guy blowing a blunt or two a week before the NFL combine. Surprise!!!!!! they test for these things
I will admit I admired Merriman for the absolute ferocity he played the game an sort of wished Ware would have that extra edge as well but if it is chemically induced, no thanks

I have always been a Ware over Merriman guy however I didn't realize how cheap Merriman's sacks were...

I just saw them on youtube and they are pathetic...going unblocked, QB scrambling into his waiting arms...I mean c'mon a good pass rush creates these situations they dont wait for them.

This debate was over for me a long time ago but I do get some satisfaction knowing that even though Merriman wasn't the all around LB that Ware is, he can't even do what he did do without the juice.

That whole San Diego team needs to get tested, seems like they are consistantly getting busted.
