Funny how the Chargers are pleased with him. He is third string and has not been able to practice. He has never played in a 3-4 if I remember right. Merriman will be a non factor.
.

I don't know what's so funny about it. All I said was they were pleased with what they've seen out of him during his "limited" playing time. He is a third string only because he hasn't played much. If he is still a third string after a considerable playing time, then it would be funny.

I can't tell you about his future nonsense and disruptions, just like I can't with any other rookies. I have no idea how they'll be off the field, unlike some of you who think you do. But so far what we've been seen out of him, he's been saying and behaving as any other "normal" rookies would, so I guess that's a good thing, right?

Good point, we realy don't know if he will settle down and be the player he can be. However, we can see what he has done since he was drafted and based on that, most of us are glad we took Ware instead.

You have to understand, the pick was more critical for Dallas. We did not have the luxury of coming off a 12-4 season. We could not afford to "miss" on our first pick. I am most happy with the pick simply because we got Ware, and Spears. Getting those guys will improve our team, not avoiding Shawn.

I practiced this week and begged Marty to let me in the game for a few snaps even though I have no clue what I'm doing yet and my knee's not 100%. I've got to pay those mean old Cowboys back for lying to me and letting me free fall in the draft all the way from 11th to 12th. Daddy Poston says if I can make 1 tackle he'll buy me a shiny motorcycle just like my new pal Kellen Winslow. Gotta go now- there's a message for me on machine from a Mr. Campbell who says he can't wait to introduce my punk *** to the turf.

This point makes sense to me now. If I was a Cowboys fan, and if we passed over a player who we all thought we would pick, I would defnitely still be making comments about that pick, no matter how great Ware turned out to be.

As a Chargers fan, our whole point of view was that both team got what they wantet, well a little more for us since we didn't expect Merriman to fall that far (according to some sources, Mark Clayton was suppose to be our pick), so I really didn't understand why there were so many threads about Merriman in Cowboys forum than in Chargers forum.

Merriman has been the one to make an issue of this. I think most Cowboy fans like the Ware selection and would not have said a word about Merriman had he not made an issue of this after the draft.

Like i said, I only recall him making that statement about Cowboys right after the draft. Is that what you are all fired up over?

You could also add a later entry:

"My mentor LaVar convinced me to change my mind. Now I'm just going to talk tough during the week, but the knee will get balky at gametime and I won't quite be able to make it. The sneering and tough talk is still great for the image, though, and no one will remember that I didn't actually play. In fact, people can then talk about how great I would have been if I had played... Just like him." ;)

I'm not fired up about it at all to tell you the truth. I had Dallas selecting Merriman before the draft so I think he has very good potential. But to answer your question overall I would say yes that Merriman attitude towards Dallas is a good reason Dallas fans would like to see him get stomped this weekend. Also Merriman constantly vowing to play in this game is a good indicator that Merriman still is holding his grudge

You are still basing this "Merriman's attitude toward Dallas" based on that one statement, right? (no, really, I am not being sarcastic. I just want to know if he made any other comments directly about cowboys)

About the grudge, him making the same statement about Packers and Vikings is considered grudge also?

It's a fact noone knows how the draft picks will turn out. But that doesn't stop any of us from having opinions. The fact that Merriman was strongly rumored to be coming to Dallas and then didn't made us all very aware of Shawn and even more so after he fired his agent right after the draft, dissed the Cowboys, skipped mini camp and held out of camp briefly. The comparison of Shawn's behavior with the soft spoken Ware has been comforting to Cowboy fans and no doubt we will "track" the success of both players in the years ahead. For what it's worth, my prediction is Ware will be in the Pro Bowl in a couple of years and Merriman will end up as a Mount Rushmore sized bust. Of course I never wanted Merriman in the first place.:laugh1:

Does it matter? I don't care about talk or what Merriman has to say or how he feels, it changes nothing I still want to see him get jacked up by the Cowboys for one simple reason and that is because he plays for the chargers and that is who we are playing. Personally don't care if he crys about not getting selected by the Cowboys that is his problem not the Cowboys.

js, do some searching- or WAKE UP. He has made several comments SINCE the first ones after the draft. You keep trying to deny reality.

Excellent point. Now we are talking. And good luck to Cowboys as well on this sunday, I really think it's gonna be a great game.

Most of us were all pulling for Merriman to come here, but when BP does something, most Cowboy fans support it - and I think we made a heck of a choice.

The difference to me between Ware and Merriman outside of football, is maturity. Ware could be crying about 10 teams passing on him, but instead of worrying about the "woulda couldas", he's asking the Flozells how can I rush you better.

He's worrying about football issues, and how to become the best player he can be vs. trying to get back at someone. Moss has been getting back at the Cowboys for years, however; We are still tied zero to zero, since neither of us has won a super bowl.

I personally hold nothing against the guy & do believe he will eventually be a very good player. That said, I hope he plays, 'cuz I would truly love to see JJ juke him right out of his jockstrap & then take off for a big gain.
