Method to the madness?

Ideally, sure.

But you didn’t know that Ezeiruaku would be available in round 2. And you’re still not 100% sure he’ll excel at the pro level. So far, so good, but we haven’t played a single game yet.
That’s true but you woukd have had another first you could have got an edge rusher. It’s just frustration that every deal, not just Micah bit every deal to the top players is drama

Almost as if Jerry is the ring leader of drama for nfl sports media assets because he's the media mogul who sold them(networks)on paying big dollars to NFL owners...and he would give all the sports shows something to talk about year round....

Ain't it something?

The oil salesman turned sports franchise owner turned real estate mogul turned media mogul has his team generating the most drama....in a time of over saturation of sports talk shows.

Almost as if the spearheading salesman that sold the media guys on this idea....is being forced to pull his weight by creating drama for the TV shows.

Jerry said to the TV networks "give us(the nfl) a bunch of money and we will provide drama for year round TV. You make money off commercials, we make money from you giving us deals. And, I....Jerry Jones, will ensure you I will give you something to talk about. I'll pull my weight on this deal"

I don't know how it went down. Maybe Jerry was given stock in media companies at the requirement he drum up drama to stir ratings and commercial fees.

It's so corny

First off, I’d like to state that this thread is not an attempt to defend the way the Cowboys handle their big contracts. I do not agree with how the Joneses have done business lately.

But in looking at the Parsons deal and potential deals for Tyler Smith, Daron Bland, and possibly George Pickens it got me wondering.

Micah Parsons is undeniably a great player and a top pass rusher, but he also plays at arguably the Cowboys most well-stocked position.

Could - the key word here - could the Cowboys live without him in the future?

If EZE is what early reviews suggest. If Sam Williams shows he’s back and a force to be reckoned with.

Could the Cowboys live without Parsons?

Would the team be better off with draft picks and cap space to retain the other players mentioned above?

I don’t think there’s any cap magic that would allow you to pay Parsons $41 million a year-plus and still afford Smith, Bland, and Pickens.

But if you were to tag and/or trade Parsons next year? It might then be manageable.

My thinking is that Diggs is in his last season in Dallas anyway, and his numbers could be replaced with a new deal for Bland.

So I’m wondering, are the Cowboys playing this one out and keeping their options open? Or is this just yet another example of the Joneses poor management?
Trade Micah for 2 1st Round picks. I'm always for draft picks to stock the team. Also Arch Moore a franchise Qb most likely 2027 NFL Draft.

First off I disagree, I think we can sign them all and easily. As you said Diggs goes and his money pays Bland. Our safeties go. Murray and Fowler aren’t here long term. Cap hits of Contracts are all pushed back. Cap goes up. Dak is gone after 2027 or 2028 depending on how his health holds up. Won’t be an issue IMO. Now there will be some players that we can’t afford but just those you mentioned? No.

On trading Micah: So you pay an aging QB a monster deal and then trade your best player for draft picks which will be in 2026 and 2027 so you are seeing the benefit by 2028 if you are lucky? That’s Dak’s last year if he even plays out the contract. The other guys you mention keeping are in now year 3 of their deals by that year. Just doesn’t make sense to me. You either start over or you don’t. You are lucky to get a Micah once a decade or two. Those are the players you build around, not the ones you trade. Just My two cents.

No method, just pure madness.

The decision on which direction to take with Parsons should have been made a year ago. If they had decided not to resign him then he should have been traded before the draft.

We are not witnessing any well thought out plan. It is chaos.

Almost as if Jerry as media deals that thrive on chaos.

It's not chaos. It's manufactured.

It's not bad GMing. It's on purpose.

It creates the lame trap this board feeds off of....criticism of HC and QB when the business model doesn't allow for the HC or QB to be successful.

Avoid it. Side step it. That's all you have left to do.

Avoided because it cuts right to the heart of the Cowboys issues?

I think so.

Avoid it. Side step it. You have nothing left in the excuse bin other than trying to continue on like this is real.

I think so too. But when Dak goes, it's going to come with a hefty dead cap. Especially if they add more restructures. We probably won't be totally free of his money until 2029.

For all the pay Parsons guys…

Are you worried about him at all? It will take big money to lock him up. You think his arrow is still pointing up? You think he is a leader? Does the podcasting stuff bother you? Would a couple 1s make you feel better?

Don’t get worked up I am genuinely interested.

Parsons has big risk in my opinion.
lol. Relying on this front office who passed on watt for taco charlton isn’t risky though?

Getting a 5th for Amari cooper.

Trusting Sam Williams who is one run in with the law away from jail/suspension?

Man yall are funny. Micah is a generational player and you want to get rid of him because he has a podcast.

My Lord.

The Chicago Bears reached a record-setting six-year, $141 million extension with Khalil Mack on Saturday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Mack is now the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...h-agreement-trade-khalil-mack-oakland-raiders
So, you found one example, show me more, like its normal? that was 2018 show me something recent....

I'm telling you it's not normal,

and by the way that should be a warning because what did Khalil Mack do for the Bears defense the team did they win anything because last I checked he's gone, I think he's been on two different teams now since, I mean am I wrong or is this a big red flag for team to not do this why would you give all this draft compensation... when you could just go draft a Micah Parsons, I know there's not a lot of them out there but I just seen Abdul Carter go there are other guys we see the Eagles be able to do it, you do not have to pay that kind of conversation and turn around and give a contract like that to a player when you're not a piece away you do realize that right...

Hey, show me the team dumb enough to do that for us, and I'll trade Parsons in a heartbeat for that package right now...

You offer the Dallas Cowboys that kind of draft compensation ie 2 firsts and 3rd and 4th..DO IT!

I'll take it right now, That's stealing, because they're going to have to turn around and then pay him a record market setting contract not what the highest paid linebacker made or outside linebacker, we're talking about today's NFL when a guy wants to be the highest paid skill player in the league... so right now that might be $42 million per year(in 2018 that was 23.5 umm not close, ) let that sink in and now they want like close to fully guaranteed contracts ,They want more money up front, they want no trade clauses, go ahead find me a team and I'll do it right now....

I mean,

think about this this is the problem the reason guys like OSA and Diggs and a lot of other players they signed without any fanfare because they took normal deals ,

Right now the franchise tag is around $25 million for a defensive end or even an outside linebacker dude the Cowboys would do that in a minute ie they wwpould be happy to give him 30M range, he wont take it..

yes, and another team would trade if that's all it took, but that is not what players have done the last five years.. They have changed the game, they now want to be the top paid skill player in the league ,they want a new market setting record contract, the highest paid non quarterback deal has thrown a wrench into a lot of these deals, and it's why they're taking longer, But it also makes it harder to trade a guy now that's wanting 42 million instead of say 26-32 million, that's a huge difference...

I would welcome you but I would especially welcome the Cowboys to show the fans how they need to just be quiet because you going to show me a team that would give us that kind of compensation for Parsons right now in his situation because if you could find me one they would do it and I would do it but I'm telling you they wouldn't do it not that much...
Guess my point is a lot has changed since even 2018 the narrative has changed the demands were getting from these stars are not what it used to be it wasn't just pay me what I'm worth like top five money at my position which is usually around with the franchise tag is it's completely messed these things up..
I mean why hasn't any team come after Trey Hendrickson or whatever his name is over in Cincinnati he's one of the better pass rushers in the league My guess is the price is too high both for draft picks and for compensation that he's wanting.....

I found the example that directly refuted your claim.

Take the ‘L’.

FYI, they don't make charts, graphs and data stream with 1 number on it..lmao.

Actually, it didn't win a thing, I'm saying now you know how much it changed in the NFL since 2018 and you have one example that's it come up with more,

One does not make a trend one makes an anomaly, so take a seat and try harder, you haven't come close to validating this..

we're talking and I'm telling you find me a suitor for players like parsons in today's NFL... There aren't many because deals like that are not being done like that on a regular basis you gave me one from way back in 2018 in NFL terms that's a lifetime That was 7 years ago The NFL has changed and it's ever changing because of the salary cap in the contract demands especially of your superstars,.

I'm saying show me where it's something that's being done on a regular basis and then we can talk you found one anomaly in 7 years now show me the rest...

I like how you think this place is a competition you're winning something there is no wins and losses but I can see your ego thinks that so if you feel like you won something I'm giving you the big gigantic sarcastic clap right now It's sad though it really is that you you think you're winning anything in here at all...

I don’t need to ‘win’ anything.

And I certainly don’t need to prove anything to you.

You’re not as important as you seem to think.

But you made comments that were proven to be inaccurate and then failed the personal accountability test.

Nice job.

I’m done wasting any more of my time.

Oh no, you dropped the i Should take an L, that's saying you think you took A, W, meaning you think you need to won something..

You're not done wasting your time you live on this place try again try harder to act like you do anything different than just talk all day long and it's just a time wasting distraction in somebody's life.lmao.

He is not a DE. Short arms and stocky. He doesn’t have the leverage needed to take on OTs all the time. Great talent. Mismanaged.
It was sickening watching GB RBs run right by him in the playoffs. Just use delayed handoffs and let him run past, then run right by his vacated spot. And the sickest part is that he's a noted run stopper as a LB, coming downhill he's beastly.
