Micah abused our OL

If this doesn't tell all the Cowboys fans what this is all about I don't know what does.

Jerry and the kids definitely turned on Micah when it suited their needs.

What shocks me is how we fans will support the behaviours of this man and his resources when he could have just done it a different way.

He could have clammed up, not gotten his kids involved, traded Micah and got his two first round picks.

What was the other crap for? His ego? So a bunch of adoring fans could validate him? Alot of this stuff seems childish. Even from Micah's side...

...but for a billionaire with all his resources why would he stoop so low as to entertain playing in a dirty sandbox like a kindergartner? Where is that something that is along the path of building a SuperBowl winner?

Let's not forget what is the reason we are all here for...to see the Cowboys win another SuperBowl.

At least that is why I am here.
Absolutely.

I don’t support Jerry.

In fact I stopped considering myself a fan because of him. More of a spectator now.

No what it tells you is Micah played better than anyone else relative to his position. The scoring doesn’t mean one player is more valuable than another. You’d rather your QB have a 90 rating than your DE every week but the statement still stands.

Daks position encompasses the entire offense, receivers need to get open, catch, blockers block etc. Dak may have thrown tight risky throws and missed the easier more profitable throw that you didn’t notice.

On pass rushing downs Micah, a pass rusher, played his position better than anyone else. If an entire offense quick passes and focuses on blocking and staying away from Micah then he doesn’t have enough time even if he wins at the line, like he usually does, to get a sack.

A QB can play a great game and still have a lower score than the pass rusher he faced even with a ton of points scored and no sacks. Means the rest of the defense didn’t capitalize off the attention he was given.

Top corners don’t see a lot of targets, which means they don’t get a lot of chances for interceptions, does that mean they weren’t good? The film could show them blanket their Wr they are covering the entire game but they can lose that game badly because the rest of the team, even only having to over one side of the field, failed to capitalize off it.

Also it was 13-0 before special teams and defense made some plays to get back into the game. Where was Dak the entire first half? It was 13-2 until the final minute of the first half. If Dak had played better maybe they wouldn’t have tied. There’s your PFF score.
Ah. Okay thanks for explaining. Looks like I misunderstood.

I stand by what my eyes saw. A slightly better version of James Houston.

They gameplanned him out. Dak made good decisions and had great pocket awareness that really helped. Cowboys offense deserves a lot of credit here as they are looking to be one of the best in the NFL this season. Individually, Micah whipped the OL a majority of the night. But football is the ultimate team sport and he can’t do it alone. That sack from behind near the goalline saved GB from a loss as he stopped Dak from getting into the end zone. That happened in OT if I remember correctly?

I thought I saw more of him on the bench grasping for air than in the game. Its easier to get pressures when he only plays half the snaps and comes in fresh on passing downs.

$47M is way too much for a player that can't even play every down and is basically a pass rush specialist. Dallas won the trade, easily.
But he played more snaps than any other Packer DE?
  • 46: Micah Parsons
  • 41: Rashan Gary
  • 37: Lukas Van Ness
  • 13: Kingsley Enagbare
  • 8: Barryn Sorrell
I think the most obvious explanation is that they had a camera on Parsons every time he came on or off the field.

The Packers are chasing the Lions who undoubtably studied this tape . I don’t think giving up 40 was predicted when you acquired Parsons. They have other problems ( secondary ) that need attention with a now much tighter Sal cap and no # 1’s 2 yrs running . That’s their problem now .

Folks are trying really hard to justify Micah Parsons on the field. While he's a good player no doubt, he doesn't rise to the occasion when he's needed most, on a consistent basis. Now if he played his natural position of linebacker like he did in college, we can have a different convo. I saw elite as a linebacker. I recall in his rookie year with us we used him mostly at LB and he was really good. He could cover well, great instincts. Then DQ used him at edge part time out of need, due to injuries at edge, and Micah then decided he was no longer a LB. He said I'm an edge. I think it was an error in judgment on his part, limiting himself to edge when his most natural, most effective position was linebacker. Just my two cents.

abused would be if he was a massive disruption and had 3 sacks. He was none of that.
Exactly. I know I expected at least three sacks out of him - probably even more when we got down by (almost) two TDs early - and four or five wouldn't be a surprise at all.

We knew our tackles (minus Nate) are pretty terrible... Who didn't think he'd take turns abusing Steele and Guyton all night? And we even had undrafted backups at C and G in this game where he loves rushing up the middle. Micah had to be licking his chops.

And then they pretty much kept him off the stat sheet except for that bogus sack, and people want to crow about win rates and PFF grades? Weird. He's the highest paid defender and non-QB in the league... It's really brag-worthy that he beat our patchwork OL off the line?

If he can do that and they still give up 40 - and Gary did nothing either - maybe he's not worth that massive contract. Which was the point all along.

He didn't "beat all our blockers, nor are we dumb for calling out the truth - Micah was contained, and almost completely neutralized. If he wasn't then the Cowboys wouldn't have scored 40.

That 40 burger is the biggest clue about all of this. It ain't happening if Micah really had a great game. He didn't, thus the 40 burger by the Cowboys, and only one sack for 0 yards lost for Micah.

Micah was virtually a non-factor and this PFF advanced metric is for midwits that need to avoid seeing the forest for the trees.
So you didn't watch the Baldinger video.

100%. As a LB, Parsons is a strong run stopper. He needs to be in space. As a hands down DE, he's too easily pushed aside w/ pure size.

The counter point to all that though is that Parsons easily had 3+ sacks sitting there for him on film had he gone up against nearly any other QB. They also chipped, doubled, or rolled the pocket away from Parsons on more than 50% of snaps.

The man did his job at a very high level Sunday night, and clearly was the focal point of the Cowboys game plan. The trade is what it is and I'm not even mad that they did it, but there is no question about it that what this defense lacks is a player like Parsons who can get the quick pressures and for the ball out quick and dictate to an offense what they can/cant do.

We can rag on Parsons for not getting home and his defense giving up 38 points, but teams giving up 30+ points in a game happens to everyone. I asked AI so this could be wrong, but its saying the longest active streak for an NFL team to not give up 30+ points in a game is Philly, and that streak is only 10 games old. The expectations that fans are putting on Parsons are simply not realistic. 3 fantastic games followed by a clunker isnt necessarily bad by NFL standards.

Exactly my friend. It's this simple. At edge, he gets beat up, wore down, flustered. At LB , that's where he cooks.

Myles Garrett and TJ Watt play 80%+ of the snaps on defense. Micah plays less than 70% of the snaps on defense.

https://www.footballguys.com/stats/snap-counts/teams?team=GB&year=2025&type=snap-counts
He missed most of camp and was traded right before the start of the season. Week one he only played 30 snaps. Since then it's been closer to his career averages. Despite that, he's still played more snaps than Garrett this year.

2024 snaps per game:
Watt - 55
Parsons - 53.5
Garrett - 48.5

Okay... so the good QBs and OCs can somewhat neutralize him? Is that why you make a guy the highest paid non-QB in the league, because he racks up big stats against average to bad QBs and coaches? Which BTW are not what you're going to see in the playoffs.

And of course he's better than our patchwork OL players, save Tyler. It's not like he was going against prime Tyron Smith out there. Our guys are pretty spare. Does he really get that much credit for beating those guys? Isn't that the minimum he should do?

I think you're one of the best posters on here and I usually agree with you, but I don't understand this being upset that Micah isn't getting his due. Micah is a tremendous talent and a great player. There's not much doubt about that with the vast majority of people. But is he worth the contract he got? That's the whole question.

I expected us to get blown out with Micah having a monster game with 3 or more sacks and knocking out Prescott for the season with an injury on one of them.

I mean, this would be the most Cowboys thing ever to get humiliated on national TV once again by GB but this time shoving Parsons up our rear ends. But miraculously, the Cowboys were at least up to the task of a tie, and they did that by taking Parsons almost completely out of the game.

"But he was double and triple teamed!!!" - Yeah, and? It worked. Made him a non factor almost all night. Plus, if he was drawing double and triple teams then where was the rest of the GB defense? They should have been coming free at Prescott. But we didn't see that and rolled up a 40 burger.

For the first time in a very long time I was actually proud of the Cowboys for not just getting boat raced again.
