The receiver routes don't seem to get them open. Most of those routes are predictable and vanilla, so the receivers are often blanketed.
Plus, with McCarthy abandoning play action on most passing plays, the LBs drop into coverage and can contest downfield throws, and the safeties don't have to cheat up either to stop the run. So the receivers get blanketed because of the lackluster play designs and playcalling.
Having said that, CeeDee jogs through too many routes when he's covered and/or is not the primary receiver. And you can't have that. Because then the safeties quickly realize during the play that they don't need to help on CeeDee because clearly he's not the primary receiver since he's running half-azzed through the route, so they go and help elsewhere, giving Dak nowhere to throw (then SACK!). I thought Amari did this too much as well.
Micah simply looks like he gets tired too quickly out there, thus he needs frequent breaks. Micah needs to spend more time doing cardio and less on his podcasts. Micah looks tired by the middle of the 2nd quarter in many games.
And by later in the 3rd quarter against the Niners, he was dead, because by then, the Cowboys had been pounded into submission. And then, yeah, he probably just gave up...and you can see it in his body language, on and off the field.
I simply don't know how strong these young players' psyches are...I don't trust their ability to battle through adversity yet. If I trust anyone, I trust Dak, and D Law...but Dak may not have the ability to overcome such a bad offensive scheme with his average arm talent. And D Law is doing everything he can to keep the young guys believing in the process, but it's just not enough, especially once your defense is getting pounded into submission.
Oh well.
