Micah Parsons could have been a generational LB instead of a member of a small group of elite DE's.

With Parsons speed, combined with a wider space to operate, Parsons would have been a sure tackler with the capability of getting to either edge of the field.in record time. He would have required some experience to truly reach his potential, but it would have been well worth it.

Instead, Parsons played out of position for someone that is 6'3, 245LBS. For three years he was double teamed often, mauled by a pair of 300 pounders, guys who were 60-100 pounds heavier than himself.

It took its toll. Parsons wore down towards the end of each of his three seasons. By December, there was nothing elite about his level of performance. In that part of the schedule when the big games are played that determine playoff participation and division titles, the Cowboys best player had little left to give.

Want proof?

Here is Micah Parsons average production per game during the first three months of his three combined regular seasons:

Sacks: .96
Combined tackles: 4.68
TFL: 1.18
QB Hits: 2.03
Forced fumbles: .18

Here are the results per game for December and beyond:

Sacks: .50
Combines tackles: 3.38
TFL: .69
QB Hits: 1.25
Forced fumbles: .06

In a combined four playoff games, Micah Parsons has a total of 1 sack.

Nobody is saying that Parsons couldn't rush the passer as a LB, but, as a LB, he should have been the team's leading tackler by far.

This cannot be corrected. It's too late to put him in as a permanent LB and learn the NFL level skillset that HOF LB's possess.

Furthermore, it is very possible that Parsons could begin sliding as soon as next season. Getting beat up every game can do that to a player, just ask Ezekiel Elliott. I'm not predicting it, I am just saying that the possibility increases due to the way he has been used. What we do know, according to his numbers is that he slides every season around the beginning of December when great players are supposed to play great.

It's a tragedy, really. He could have been the next Lawrence Taylor. Instead, it's most likely he will end up the next Jay Ratliff.

I like the use of stats and all but you seem to be forgetting one thing.
Parsons is strong at the beginning of a season and then literally is a no show after the midpoint.
Except for his mouth which works overtime…
The so called “lion” becomes a house cat after the mid point of the season or when playing good teams.
Is he good player, yes is he elite and deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as LT. no he is not, not even close.

Just when you need your best players to show up.. he is repeatedly a no-show, sure blame the DC and defense.

Remember this… great players show up when they are needed.
He does not… over and over…

Maybe he wouldn't get worn down if he was playing half the time off ball and not dealing with a guy that outweighs him by 80 lbs every play and making it easy for the offense to know where he is coming from to double and triple team him in top of that. No one knows that answer but it's my guess

That's already started. Fans inevitably turn on the best players when they get paid. Or now, about to get paid.

this has to have been said by analysts, fans and coaches from the beginning. Micah cannot play how DQ has had him playing, and not only expect to be effecitve, but also be able remain healthy. The excuse that he has to play there because he is the best we have falls on the stubborn head/shoulders of our moronic ownership who are wasting the best yeaers of his career. Do you really think Deebo can remain healthy in the role the 9ers play him in for an extended period of time? Can the mobile QB's last 10 years playing they way they do?

If he wants to play LB full time he should say so.
I’m sure he doesn’t. The pay is much less. But there is no doubt he gets worn down late in the season. The numbers are dramatic
First 11 ganes 2022 12.0 sacks
Last 6 games 1.5 sacks
First 11 games this year 11.5 sacks
Last 6 2.5 sacks
it’s not all just his size because he’s not really much smaller than Watt but watt plays coverage a lot

Is he “wearing down” simply because of his size and responsibilities on the field? Or does he just not take care of himself off the field?

There was a time during training camp, and there's not a lot of food options in Oxnard, and I came into the lunch (room) one day … and saw Brandin Cooks and Gilly eating fried noodles. It wasn't like stir fry. It was just cooked noodles. Because they didn't want to eat cheese or cream or anything. They just ate warmed up noodles. Just straight noodles. Not even butter noodles. I saw crispy brown noodles and I said, ‘You guys are nuts.' And I think I went and ordered Popeyes.”

I don’t think it’s size as much as responsibility because he’s almost always rushing. And we don’t really ever drop him out in coverage from the edge which serves to keep a line guessing if he’s coming or dropping. We don’t move him around late to create confusion on the line

Exactly right. Almost like the fans are subsuming the franchise's talking points.

He starts off strong bc he’s healthy. At 245 lbs, Quinn’s got him crashing into OTs lining up with his hand in the ground most of them game. That’s a recipe for injury and it wears down the smaller player.

Micah thinks you don't know what you're talking about.

He knows his best chance to get stupid money is rushing the QB, so that's what he's focused on.

Micah misused Micah. DQ misused Micah, MM misused Micah. Micah talks alot and delivers small. If u gonna run your mouth during the week, you got dang better be a stud on Sunday. DQ definitely misused him. Thats a fact. He needs traded fast because I can see him becoming a big problem, a disgruntled cancer. He had a few issues like this in college too. Very immature. We can't pay everyone. If we wanna get better on the roster, sometimes you need to do addition by subtraction. Its math really. Wholesale changes are needed, and we can't do that if we keep him. Stupidly, Jerry will pay him, thus hamstringing the team again. I can see Ceedee holding out. Just a hunch.

Hard to say, at de hes literally our best DE.
But the problem is we have bums and nobodies at DT and DE (besides dlaw, but only the run) and literal safeties at lber.

His best potential imo is de if we have those pieces fixed (good luck ive been asking this for decades). This season and in a few games he really needed to be swapped the lber most of the snaps.
