Micah Parsons, you're a disappointment!

When we drafted Parsons, I was overjoyed. I loved the pick and for a while there I thought we should build around the guy!! I thought he was a true Cowboy. A true Cowboy!! I can’t stand what Parsons has become. He’s become a disappointment and I hate the guy. Jerry Jones needs to trade this man NOW. He’s a toxic me me me first kind of guy and if I was younger, I’d give an uppercut!!!

He has all the talent and that’s why this hurts so much. I thought he would become a legend of this franchise. I thought his talk of taking a team friendly deal might have been true. You know what? I can’t believe I’m saying this but Jerry Jones is the victim in this situation. Parsons is entitled and it’s showing!
First thing I do when I see an over the top post like this is look at the poster's posting history and usually it looks just like this one. All anti-Cowboy and a couple of very thinly veiled Pro Eagles posts. Nice try...

Micah is doing the right thing. If he was to receive a career ending injury in the last year of his contract, the NFL contract culture would drop him like a bad habit. There is no denying Micah is a generational talent and he should exploit that unicorn status to his benefit.
The same can be said every year of every contract. The fact is he's under contract and well paid. If he wants to negotiate a new contract great but regardless he should be out there living up to his current agreement or he can pound sand.

The minimum salary for an NFL player is 795,000. For six months of work.

That puts them in the top 1% of salary in the US.

To play a game.

Lets not get to butt hurt about the poor players.
The minimum salary for an NFL player is closer to $12K/week but your point is taken. They are making way more than the average 40-hour/week work person.

Those guys work all year to make the team just like the stars, it's not just 6 months of work even if they have less natural talent. To my point, though, the union negotiated these salaries. They should do the same for the high end players.

There is 10s of millions of dollars at stake.

Jerry negotiating against Micah is just stupid.

Jerry has been doing this his whole life. Micah has every right to not honor this. Jerry is trying to sucker him.

What Jerry is doing is disgusting really.
He has no right not to honor it. He signed his name. No one forced him to. Honor the damn contract.

He ain’t winning a championship so he might as well get as much money as possible.

It's not Micah's fault. It's not Jerry's fault. It's the NFLPA's fault. The union should be negotiating these contracts. A player who hits certain benchmarks (years, stats, whatever) gets X dollars. Players shouldn't be having to negotiate their deals out of a finite pie. This system favors the superstar player and kills the rank and file player who makes up a majority of the league. The union needs to represent everyone equally and it is not.
It doesn't help that every so called super star player wants to be top payed at his position.

There are no victims only casualties

The union needs to negotiate contracts. The rank and file players are the ones who can least afford to strike because they make the least. Also, the CBA is for something like 10 years. Most players aren't in the league but a few so they will never get the chance to vote let alone be organized.

Right now the union is there so the NFL is not considered a monopoly. It benefits a few players, certainly not all of them.
The rank and file employees of the NFL can afford to strike more than anyone else in the world, yet we see striking employees all the time that live paycheck to paycheck. There is no room here for a sob story with players making 950k a year. Stop buying Lambos and go on strike.

You're suggesting a radical change. Most unions don't deal with individuals, so it's easy to negotiate a contract since most get paid the same with unions. How would the NFLPA go about this? But like I said before, you need member support to make any change. The union doesn't do it without member support. So if the rank and file, almost homeless players of the NFL don't choose to strike, there's nothing that can be done.

But Parsons should have made it clear that all negotiations go through his agent. Don't make any handshake deals you won't keep.
I disagree.....Jerry Jones as the owner, has set a higher standard. He is responsible for over 60 players' contracts and what does it say if you, as a player, are now afraid of talking with him out of fear he's trying to backdoor your next contract. C'mon man, these are 20-something-year-old kids who have agents/attorneys. How in the hell Jerry can say we have a final contract that was never in writing or signed? To me, Jerry should be ashamed of himself......here's a multi-billionaire with over 30 years of experience negotiating contracts trying to take advantage of one of his top players to save a few million dollars. IF I'm the Cowboys players, I'm telling Jerry and Stephen to stay hell away from me w/o my agent present coz you can't be trusted.

I don't disagree with you. The only part I disagree with is what Parsons should and should not do. Jerry shouldn't be trying to make back door deals with any player. But Parsons should know better too. He's a star player. Just tell the dude to talk to your agent.

Let me ask you a serious question
If this issue were decided in court via jury trial ( that is, whether or not Parsons should be forced to honor Jerry's 'handshake' deal), how do you think they would decide?
Just me, but I think they would decide in Parsons' favor
