Michael Crabtree released

How many WRs do they have to pay before they decide to go defense? Draft a guy, it's looking like their only option financially. Not some 31 year old castoff who will collect more than he's worth.

I posted something on this earlier. If you look at his numbers, not all that much different then Dez last year and a lot cheaper. If we couldn't sign Dez, this might be a decent fall back option.

Dez 2017

Rec 69, Yds 838, Avg. 12.1, Lng 50, TDs 6.

Crabtree 2017

Rec. 58, Yds 618, Avg. 10.7, Lng 41, TDs 8.

Crabtree's cap hit last year was just under 7 Mil. Cap hit this year is 7.7 Mil.

He’s put up 25 touchdowns the past three years including 8 this past season how is that garbage? We didn’t have a receiver put up 8 TDs this past season. I would take Crabtree over Twill in a millisecond.

John Gruden disagrees with you.

John Gruden disagrees with you.

Gruden called Crabtree garbage? Just because Crabtree was released doesn’t mean Gruden thinks he’s garbage. I bet Gruden wouldn’t take Twill over Crabtree. I’m sure it wasn’t Crabtree’s ability that got him released.

I'll take Crabtree for $5M per then release Dez to open up another $12.5M in cap room for Thomas or Suh.

Indeed.he is slow and can't shake anyone now.

In 2016, he caught 89 passes for 1,003 yards and 8 TDs to follow an 85-catch, 922-yards season, also with 8 TDs.

Last year was a down year (58-618-8) but his previous production shows that he's done pretty well the last few years when the QB was on target.

Go get this guy. He's an aging highly reliable downfiled threat. Go get him.... Cost will be reasonable because he's on the aging side of his prime.

Once more.... GO GET HIM...

His career yards per catch average is only 11.9 ypc, which is pretty pedestrian, and not really indicative of a reliable downfield threat. His catch % is typically between 57% and 62%, which is also very pedestrian. T-Will actually outdoes him in both areas. He's not a speedster. He's more of a big bodied guy that hopes to win the position battle with CBs.

He's an upgrade over Twill for sure but it will come down to the $$. At this point, I say just stick to the plan. Wait until the second and 3rd tier free agents roll around, fill some holes with solid guys as stop gaps for a couple of years and move on to the draft.
