He was 14th in the league last year among all WRs, but only a few yards shy of top 10....though I don't think of him as top 10.

I think he has the ability to be top 10 or better, if he's used right. Part of the reason he isn't living up to what I believe is his potential is that he so often has to stop or even come back for the ball, rather than catching it in stride and in space. His biggest asset was supposed to be his elusiveness and YAC, but that's hard to achieve from a standing (or landing) start.

I wonder If Daks personal protection gang will start a thread accusing Gallup of showing partiality to Rush by coming back from injury earlier than he should have…..

it may sound crazy but we’ve seen a thread here just about 1 particular throw from Rush and that he shouldn’t get any credit for it and than his twin starts another thread about Rush’s inaccuracy ranking, so again to disparage a 3rd rate backup.

If Rush and Gallup have a good game and chemistry we’ll be seeing threads to put that in a bad light as well……..it will send them over the edge.

I really hope that Dak gets back sooner so we not only have a veteran at the position but more importantly Daks personal gang will stop menstruating. It’s bloody embarrassing

Our QB definitely is a see-it, then throw-it guy. Never has been a great throw the guy open, anticipation QB, though he has improved in that area.
It does limit a guy like Lamb.
Lamb would go nuts in KC or GB, for examples.

I said he would be the top WR on nearly half the teams, as those teams don't have "ideal" WR1s right now.

Then there are teams like the Bucs (when healthy), Chargers, Bengals, Dolphins, etc that might have two WRs that would be top dog on other teams.

Lamb would be the top WR on

• Packers
• Ravens
• Cheifs
• Jags
• Bears
• Patriots
• Giants
• Falcons
• Steelers

and debatably (depending on one's opinion...I won't argue either way, but most rankings have him above them)

• Panthers
• Jets
• Commanders
• Titans
• Texans
• Colts
• Broncos
• Lions

I think pre-season, Sporting News had Lamb ranked the 8th best WR in the league.
That was too high, imo.
But almost everyone ranks him top 15-20.... whether that is right or not. My point was that he would be top dog on several teams.

Looking at Gallup’s facts and stats, he has tended to get forgotten between Amari Cooper, Cedee Lamb, and his recent injury history. Here are some interesting stats on Gallup:

• Ran a consistent 4.45 40 in pre-draft workouts.
• In 4 seasons (55 games) he averages 15 yards per reception (Lamb avg about 13 per reception)
• In 4 seasons he has 12 receptions of 40+ yards (Lamb has 5 in 2 years)
• In Gallup’s best year- 2019- he had 66 receptions for 1,107 yds, avg 16.8 yds per catch.
• His yards per target is 8.3- Lamb’s is 8.5.

I’m not knocking Cedee Lamb at all. But I am making the point that Michael Gallup may be exactly the kind of receiver to help Lamb not get doubled. Gallup is flat underrated. His return may inject some coverage respect among opposing defenses that we haven’t seen yet this year.

Great point. He suffered an ACL tear a little over 8 months ago. As bad as this team needs him, like you, I’m hoping this isn’t too soon.

As an orthopedic clinician, I worry about it being too soon. Not from a mechanical stability perspective, but the ability to control the limb and know where it is in space is impaired. The pivots and cutting concerns me. I hope I'm wrong.

Gallup brings a different element to this offense as a deep threat. I don't know that I see Gallup as a number 1, but a good complimentary receiver if healthy.

I love MG, but I also bear in mind that he was focused on less than Cooper and Lamb, by the defense. He does make some spectacular catches though.

Yeah he is a good 50/50 ball guy. But hell... who knows... I saw a whole new Noah Brown last game.

I agree Purple-Haze! Just having Gallop running wind-sprints should CeeDee get loose and if it doesn't then maybe CeeDee needs to be benched for a while to think about why he even wants to play football and if he comes up with the correct answer then let's see what CeeDee 2.0 can do.....................

I hope we all temper our expectations and do not get carried away if his impact is limited. He is coming back pretty fast from a serious injury and typically you see year two when you get the old player back. Maybe Gallup is the exception, but if it takes him a while he should not be the one blamed.

It’s clear by now that Lamb is a classic diva. Not sure yet if it will ruin him. Gallup has some dawg to him. They badly need that.

I think Lamb was drafted and anointed by JJ to be something he’s probably not- a dominant WR. Is he a really good WR? Yes. But more as a possession type receiver.

Lamb has played 34 games so far in his career, and I don’t think he’s a big deep threat or a guy with great hands. Doesn’t mean he’s not an excellent NFL receiver. He has playmaking skills and YAC capabilities. But he may be close to his ceiling as a receiver. Still too early to know for sure but I don’t see Lamb as a top 20 WR in this league.
