society has rules, the prohibition against adultery is not one of them, at least not in the western world, If he committed a sexual assault, then he should do his time, but people here are judging him for being a gasp "serial philanderer" and "cheating on his wife" which is exactly what the cast the first stone verse is against

Ironic that you would reference adultery and then reference the "judge not that you be not judge." The same Jesus who said both said them during the "Sermon on the Mount."

The issue here is not the crime but the behavior. People aren't saying that Irvin is necessarily guilty of the crime. They're saying that he shouldn't be in these situations and shouldn't be especially because he's a married man!!!

How is that judging him based on the verse you cited?

I know we can't have a complete conversation about this, but my issue is with your citation of the verse. That is one of the most, if not the most, misinterpreted, misquoted and taken-out-of-context verse in the good book.

It doesn't mean how you tried to interpret it to mean.

Oh, and the cast the stone verse had to do with the death penalty. No one has recommended Irvin be put to death for cheating on his wife. So, you're incorrect on what the meaning is because the same person who said it also told the woman "go and sin no more." I guess he was judging her too? </sarcasm>

That was one thing I noticed. Irvin would have exactly zero problems getting laid with no need to drug anyone. That doesn't guarantee that he didn't do something stupid like that, but it seems unlikely.

Ever hear of Darren Sharper? Think he needed to drug anyone to get laid? Well, he did anyway.

Not casting any aspersions as to Irvin's guilt or innocence on a sexual assault charge, but people who commit rape have something seriously wrong with them mentally. Equating sanity with their actions is a futile effort.

I didn't compare Cosby to Irvin in that way. I was pointing out the absurdity of saying "a rich and famous guy doesn't need to rape people, people have sex with them willingly!" The same just applies to Cosby who also drugged people despite all that fame.

That argument is about as stupid as "Why would they rape that person, their spouse is way hotter!"

False accusations are horrible, but I'm not going to assume guilt or innocence. That's for the cops and a trial if it comes to it.

Honestly, were I a wealthy athlete and I was going to sleep with women like these guys do, I would video tape them giving enthusiastic consent first, every time.

I understood the comparison, perfectly. And you are correct. For some reason, rich, powerful, famous men who have sex at their beck and call still find themselves in situations where they rape women. It has more to do with power than availability.

define sin, that is the problem with most of you on this

you are certain adultery is a "sin", maybe it isn't.

I sincerely hope this is not true.................but the optics look bad.

Married man takes drunk woman back to his hotel room at 4 AM, woman wakes up in the morning and thinks she might have been drugged and raped, ala Bill Cosby style, woman goes to the hospital and has a rape test swab.

If any seman is found from the swab, they will do a DNA test to see if it matches Irvin's. If the seman is his, he is toast. See ya in 10 yrs Mike, remember not to drop the soap.;)

Mike says he didn't sleep with her and another male was present during the brief time he was in the hotel room with her. We'll see how this plays out, and if he actually gets charged.

Sounds like Mike Tyson scenario where this will come down to consent or no consent. If there is date rap drug in her system...I agree he is going to big house for while.

Not according to the TMZ story linked to from the article. According to that story, he's saying there was no sexual contact.

of course he is saying that for now..his life is literally on the line. The fact that girl called 911 and was swabbed by forensic nurse first thing in morning isn't good. If that comes back positive his only angle is to say it was consensual.

That's actually the dumbest claim he could make if he raped her. Of course there would be physical evidence if he slept with her. It would be much smarter to say they had consensual sex from the beginning. Not say that they didn't, and then say oh it was consensual if the lab finds evidence.

FYI, one of podcast I listen to was to have michael on at 8 am that morning and called him and he was dead asleep in hotel. So there is holes in that girls story.

Yeah, I was also going to mention he'd be dumb to lie about only being in that room with her and another dude for ~15 minutes as the TMZ story states. I mean, all of that could easily be proven/disproven with a video camera. And the Duke lacrosse chick went in for an examination the morning after too so that by itself doesn't mean much either.

Got fired from ESPN for this nonsense. Same with Fox Sports.

Where's Johnny Hernandez these days?
You know this is something I have wondered for years. Where is this guy and what happened to him. I know Irvin visited him in jail once but that was the last I heard of it. For some of you younger posters that might not know. Johnny Hernandez was a cop who was the boyfriend of one of the "self employed models" that Irvin got caught doing drugs with in a hotel room in the off-season after the 95 superbowl win. This cop put a hit on Irvin to have him murdered and got caught then went to prison for a couple years.

I have been wondering if anyone knows what happened to him. Did he just get out of jail and was cool with Irvin? Like did he serve his time in prison and was like we'll let bygones be bygones? I've always thought it wold be hard to believe that the guy served his time and left Irvin alone but I guess he must have. Anyone know anything about it?

Why do you hate him so much? All your posts cites he is a criminal....he has not been convicted of anything....get your thumbs out of your arse...and get a freaking clue....

Lol judging by these replies I would think that account was Irvin's wife...

No. That'd be stupid because if she was drunk, she cannot consent. Welcome to the 21st century.
