not KJJ or ufcrules. They will go to their grave hating Tony.

They cant change now. Way to many posts singing the praises of E-Lie and all his greatness and to admit anything else, well, they cant. They've dug the E-Lie hole way too deep. Just like Tom Brady with the deflated footballs, or Roger Clemens with the roids, there is no turning back. They know that we all know that they are full of it, but they still dig in.

Yep. It seems anymore that if you have something positive to say you're a blind homer, in the eyes of some, and if you criticize, you're a hater in the eyes of others. It gets old, sometimes.

It definetly seems to be a theme.

I like to say exactly how I feel at the exact moment I am typing up any repsonse.

I feel this way about the future of the cowboys. or this issue, or what have you.

2 weeks later. with more info and evaulation time and the seemingly quick changes that happen in the NFL, i may feel differently and I will say so.

If i think they stink. Im going to say it.
If I think they are good, Ill say that too.

Kind of what this site is all about, really.

One other thing...it has crossed my mind in the past that if all those arguing back and forth were put in the same room to watch a game together, they'd probably get along fabulously. I truly think that.

On fans' newfound appreciation for Romo following the play of Cassel and Brandon Weeden:
"It's a shame and it's sad that we had to go this route for Tony Romo to get the respect and the just that he's due. I bet you now they (the fans) appreciate Romo."

I'm sure that's still not true for all Cowboy fans (some people are just stubborn!!) but I gotta agree with my Playmaker on this...maybe most Romo-haters see the light now?

Hell I know some haters who say we would be no better with Romo anyway.

Who? Tell me what teams have this mythological "quarterback after" guy.

I don't follow what you're asking me? Are you asking me what other teams have a great backup quarterback? I can't think of any. But that's not my point. What i'm saying is this team simply lost its quarterback. Its not a matter of who it is. This should not be the time where people FINALLY understand what we have in Romo. If the Panthers lost Cam they'd be winless. If the Falcons lost Matt Ryan they'd be winless. People are trying to say this is proof that Romo isn't the problem here and he's not the reason why we haven't had much post season success. You can't win in this league without a quarterback.

My biggest issue with Romo was his confidence. He used to have games where I was like oh no, he's giving us that look.. that look of this is too much pressure for me. Sure enough he would play terrible in bad moments. But that all started to change.. I don't know what it was..he's just not that guy anymore. He has that confidence and moxie throughout the season, playoffs you name it. He said it himself recently.

Confirmation bias.

Every athlete, pro and amateur, gets criticized about their game at some point. Rightfully so but sometimes certain athletes are attributed with poor results that closer examination contradicts. And while it's true Romo should have been respected more, what's really sad and shameful are the poor evaluation skills of those critics who were slow to extend their respect or refuse to do so still.

I don't think so anymore.

Honestly, there about five posters I know of that just have it out for him nowadays and they get continually jumped on. I've also noticed (and acknowledged to them) certain posters who used to really rip him but have come around on Tony and then there is the majority who have always felt we were fortunate an undrafted free agent fell into our laps with the talent and yes, flaws, he has.

But it's hard to argue he's in that rare and short lived zone that Steve Young always talks about where the game has slowed down for him and he still has the physical tools to really excel at the hardest position in sports.

That zone translates to a Super Bowl window but it won't last long. That's why this season is so brutally disappointing.

Yeah, I was exaggerating a bit no doubt, but I guess I was accounting mostly for people who are members here but don't post much or at all (figure that for every known "hater", there are probably at least 10 others who simply don't voice their opinion).

True.

I always find it a little silly when some of us feel the need to go back into another member's posting history to try and dig up contradictory and/or incriminating statements during an argument. We're all human -- our opinions, views, likes, dislikes, etc. are constantly in flux.

What one person might deem boring one day could end up being their favorite pasttime a few years later... and someone who didn't care for Romo's playing in 2007 might be among his his biggest supporters today, and that's perfectly fine in my opinion.

I don't feel any kind of way about the term hater when it is applied properly, once again my point is that it is used more often than not on here, when it doesn't apply.

You are getting into semantics with that stance. I'd much rather neither term be used than have to try to determine if it is "applied properly." One man's definition of hater might not be the same as another's.

I couldn't respect him more. Quote me. I think Romo is as good as any QB in the league. Brady, Rodgers, Roethliswhatever. Anyone.

Now he hasn't had as good of a career as those guys overall. Some of that is the raw, reckless rookie who took years to get ready for the pro game and a lot of it has to do with Romo being saddled to Jerry Jones. Who would have wasted Brady's and Rodgers' careers too.

But over the last 5 or so years, Romo has been a top tier QB on par with the very best at his position. In 2014, he was the best QB. Don't be afraid to say it. He was better than the media darling that was handed the MVP.

I will probably go into a real funk when he retires. He was a gift from Parcells. I know how special he is. The individuals who currently can't find a capable backup QB to save their own life will soon be the same people responsible for finding our next franchise QB.

Lord help us. And God speed, Tony Romo. In another time and place you'd have a fist full of rings.

This whole notion of calling anybody a "hater" because they criticize a particular player is nonsense. The word "hater" is a juvenile word to begin with and is commonly misplaced on this board.

Haters gonna hate...

About the only worse place he could have gone was Cleveland. Maybe Oakland considering we are talking 2003.

Just about anywhere else I believe he would have at least one ring by now.

Excellent post! From 2011-13, Romo was the only player that made the Cowboys even relevant. Without him they wouldn't have been 8-8 three straight years; they'd have been closer to 4-12. Last year it all came together for the Cowboys.

This year, their luck couldn't have been worse. But I simply can't let go of hope with ten games still to play and hoping Romo starts seven of them.
