I thought Toomer. If anything he was probably a second opinion it Lawrence couldn't come back the way they wanted and apparently he's surprising, so this made Sam expendable, so Lwarrnce is available next week or he can be activated this week? Troy Davis is a Weak side DE.

They probably figure they can get him back any time if they want because nobody will pick him up.

Cowboys waived DE Michael Sam from the practice squad.
Sam had been with the Cowboys' taxi squad since before Week 1, but never earned a promotion to the 53-man roster. The NFL's first-openly gay player will now search for more practice-squad work. Sam notched three sacks in four preseason games, but his size (6-foot-2, 261 pounds) and one dimensional pass-rushing repertoire are holding him back.

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys have decided to waive defensive end Michael Sam.

The practice squad player who joined the team on Sept. 3, spent the first seven weeks of the season on the 10-man squad and never made it to the 53-man roster.

Sam, the first openly-gay player in the NFL, was a seventh-round draft pick of the Rams. He spent all of the offseason and training camp with the St. Louis before being released and signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad.

The move opens a spot for linebacker Troy Davis, a second-year pro from Central Florida who worked out with the team on Monday.

Sam had a way of working himself into the coach's TV shots on the sideline.

Perhaps he ticked them off.

Makes sense with all of the DL people we have coming off PUP/IR.

Favor to the league paid.

That's all it was. The way it all went down is all the proof you need. Then they never speak his name again for the next 5-6 weeks, let the hype die down, and release him. No doubt that was the plan all along. They never liked him as a fit in their D, even when they signed him. They signed him for some other purpose altogether which I contend was the league allowing Brent to workout at the team facility while being suspended.
