Good article from Mickey. Straight forward about the run game and plans.
And reasons why Schotty selected the coaches he did to help the run game
No company fluff stuff this time.

"Because as former Cowboys quarterbacks, offensive coordinator and head coach Jason Garrett reminded me a few weeks ago while giving his thoughts on the career of Zack Martin, running the football "is certainly how (Brian's) dad built teams for years. They used to call him Marty Ball. It was almost to a fault. They were going to run the ball, play defense, special teams, and the issue was they would have good teams. They'd get to the playoffs, and they couldn't go to that next step because maybe they weren't balanced enough the other way. But he won a lot of games playing that way."

Running backs don't matter behind average olines when the playiffs come. That's why dallas shut his run game down in Seattle's playoff game. Switch him and kellen Moore and schotty would have a ring now too....ot atleast have had a deep playoff run.

The top backs in this draft do matter.

Yes a RB must be in the plans. In the top 3 picks, depending how the draft falls on their big board.
That is my prediction, RB, QB, and WR in first 3 rounds.
It depends on what happens , who is taken early etc, so I cant say what round.
I liked hampton, I read cowboys do too, also ewers and golden, but they may or may not have
a shot to get them.
I think they may trade back a few spots too.

Our biggest mistakes have been letting Moore and Quinn go. Both were in the hunt of the final four.

Well, if that's the case, they still need a good RB. Our RB room is average.
i know this draft is heavy in good rb class, but I don't want our team to get cute and wait to the 5th round. I don't even want them waiting to the 3rd, but my fear is they will.

Obviously if Jeanty is there at 12, then draft him and be done with it. If he is not, then I would try and find a trade partner in the 16-20 pick range (not 21st cuz Steelers, although they will probably have to reach hard for QB,may want a RB) and grab RB Omarion Hampton. I would be totally fine if they got Tet McMillan and then a RB such as O. Hampton (doubt he will be there), Judkins, Caleb Johnson (in that order) with our 2nd pick.

I know a number of people will give the annual "oh I hope Jerry doesn't grab that glamorous pick of a RB/WR high in the draft" but this time we need both and I don't want projects. This coaching staff wants & needs to run the ball to take the stress off the passing game and give this team a chance to win. We know Dak can't carry this team on his own.
