Mickey on the fan today - 12/10/09

Truth. Seriously Joe, you must have heard Brooking's comments out of context. You need to listen to the entire audio, only person Brooking blasted was No Name So Lame Dennis.

I did, i heard another audio of it today too, and was totally different this time, they played it on thefan today. The way Brooking put it, wade was a superior coach to wade because wade won more games in his first 43 games here compared to jimmy johnson's.

thats what set me off. I understand the logic behind the 43 games stats, but tell it like it is if your going to say that, just not come out with wade was better at winning games then jimmy first 3 years.

brooking didnt bother to say that the 2007 season was way more talented then jimmy johnson's first 3 years.

Because that is incorrect.

It was more talented than the 89 and 90 team.

Not the 91-97 team.

yeah, but you get my meaning, wade isnt a better coach than jimmy. If wade had the talent level that jimmy had his 3 years in dallas, wade would to my mind have less wins than jimmy did in dallas.

thats my point;

In Jimmy's first 3 years in miami, jimmy was in the playoffs and won, wade

MIA 1996 8 8 0 .500 4th in AFC East - - -
MIA 1997 9 7 0 .563 2nd in AFC East 0 1 .000 Lost to New England Patriots in AFC Wild-Card Game.
MIA 1998 10 6 0 .625 2nd in AFC East 1 1 .500 Lost to Denver Broncos in AFC Divisional Game.
MIA 1999 9 7 0 .625 3rd in AFC East 1 1 .500 Lost to Jacksonville Jaguars in AFC Divisional Game.
MIA Total 36 28 0 .563 2 3 .400
Total[3] 80 64 0 .556 9 4 .692

again this was on a terrible miami team that jimmy had to rebuild, while wade has lost 4 games, only playoff games he has been in; wade has never won a playoff game

wade has never won in

Joe...take your meds and calm down.

The whole Wade vs Bills vs Jimmies record was only said by Keith in order to show that if Dennis wanted to basically call Wade a loser because of his record than he was also calling the other two losers because wades record was better.

He was not saying one team had more talent than the other, that one coach was better than the other...he was talking about the records and putting Dennis in a spot that by the reporters own logic would have Dennis say that Jimmy and Bill were losers if Wade was one.

I thought it was a pretty simple thing to grasp but I guess not as I have seen others go on and on about it.

What the hell does Wade have to do with this? That is not what I am arguing ...... I said that the 2007 team was not as talented as the 91 team.

Thats it.

I wanted Wade fired as head coach since last year.

But I cannot stand when people claim that the 2007 team was more talented than even some of our SB teams ...

Its bull**** spoken by people who apparently do not remember the talent we had on those teams.

Over half the rosters on any of those teams would start on the Cowboys in 2007 or today if they were here.

And I'd venture to say that the '91 team would've mopped the floor against the '07 team, namely because they played with heart and pride and had vastly superior coaching.

and you'd lose in your venture.

That 1991 team was as green as a tree leaf. They had talent, but they were inexperienced, which is why they got blown out by Detroit twice and the Beagles just killed them, almost ending Troy Aikman's career, in Texas Stadium. People forget the close games we pulled out that year, that could have easily turn into loses, because of our lack of pass rushing. Our offense really did carry the team that year.

The 2007 team were not only more talented, but more experienced and as underachieving as they were, they'd easily put a 40 burger, if not 50, on that defense.

If that '91 team played the '07 team in Dec or Jan, they'd romp all over Wade's heartless and gutless bunch. From Sept - Nov - then yeah, the '07 team would likely have had the advantage.

Say what ?

from '96-'97, and an argument could be made for '95, the Cowboys were less talented than they were in '07. Those '96 and '97 seasons were a disaster, draft wise and talent wise. Between getting old ( Nate Newton, Mark Tuini, Ray Donalson ), never fully recovering from serious injuries ( Erick Williams and Kevin Smith ), and retirements ( Charles Haley, Jay Novacek ), those teams were nothing compared to 2007, talent wise.

I hear ya, believe me, but that's just not reality. That 2007 team was loaded, which makes their underachieving even more of an insult.

This. Joe you are wrapped around the axle. Take a deep breath and re-listen to what Brooking was saying in the correct context of the conversation.

You can really tell when people forget what type of players Maryland,Tolbert, and Jeffcoat was.

Is that so ? How can YOU tell ? Because I haven't forgotten the lack of pass rushing we had, which is what led to the Charles Haley trade.

No its not since you are not comparing outside lb's to DE's like you should be
.

You lucky that I didn't because neither Jeffcoat ( who was in the twilight of his career ), or Tolbert, come even close to DeMarcus Ware and that's without bringing up Greg Ellis, who was certainly as good as either of them.

I would take Brown and Horton over Henry and Hamlin.

and you'd get toasted.

:lmao:You left out Eric Williams who started a few games that year and took over the position. No way I would take the current line.

You said 1991. Starting a few games does not a season make and even so, the 1991 version of Eric Williams as a rookie is far, far, FAR less then Columbo as a starter in 2007.

TO cancels out Mike? :lmao2:

You think T.O. is not, at worst, as good as Michael Irvin, if not BETTER ?

Of that group ..... the only one who wins from the 2009 squad is Witten.

in your dreams... maybe..

Not even close ....... 1991 hands down with the exception of Witten, Ware, Newman, Roy (who is no longer on this team), Davis, and Rat. Thats 6 for 2007 and 16 for 1991

Child, please..

I said Ware was one of the 6 who is better.

Would take Big E any day of the week vs Columbo .... and I like Mark

Oh now I get where this is coming from .... you are a Owens fan.

Because only an Owens fan would think he was anywhere in the same league as Michael Irvin.

Yup an Owens fan.

I did, i have settled down alittle, I am not seeing RED right now adbutcher, but its like when you talk about my cowboys that i love, especially the older players and coaches that have won. Sometimes, I am like a raging bull with someone waving a red flag in my face, because all I can see then is the red flag and I charge.
