DallasEast? This is Regis Philbin! I have cowboyjoe here and he's shooting for the million! He named you as a lifeline, so I'm calling...

"...but if you leave your name and number, we will get back with you. BEEP!"

Its easy, you score one pont above them, remember the cowboys Commanders game 7-6
I need more proof I'm afraid. Do you have any other proof that scoring more than an opponent can lead to wins. If so, then I think we should do that.

I'd take Austin over Harper all day.

No kidding!

Harper disappeared in games all the time, but got remembered for his occaisional long TD. Doubt he was being double covered much either.

I think it could work.

I'm all for giving it a try.

I still remember when Pat Jones was coaching at OSU (Oklahoma State) and had a very good football team (I believe Barry Sanders or Thurman Thomas or both were his backs) and he led a very powerful offensive powerhouse Nebraska Cornhuskers team 3 to 0 at the half. When the commentator asked him how he planned to finish the game he said that they would try to hold Nebraska scoreless and win 3 to 0. I knew that was a recipe for diaster. LOl. They ended up losing about 21 to 3.

Harper gets way too much credit. In reality he wasn't half the receiver Austin is. Harper disappeared after he left the Cowboys.

Its not fair to Austin or Alvin to compare each other. Austin has had a good string of games. But let's atleast give him some seasons. Austin could dissappear next season like you're suggesting Alvin did.

That's bloody freaking brilliant right there.

I propose we do that to win. Score more.

It was a dumb way of saying it (duh, you obviously need to score more points to win), but I think the point, that nobody here is talking about, is that you need to outscore the Chargers in a high-scoring game in order to beat them. That impliees that if the game is low-scoring then the Chargers tend to unanimously win those kinds of games, meaning that if the final score in our game is 7-6, it likely will be in the Chargers favor.

Now I don't know if that's true, because I'm at work and can't invest the time needed to crunch the numbers, but if someone has time to look into the Chargers' scoring totals vs. wins and losses, that might be a good analysis to determine if this claim is true and to see how many points Dallas may need to minimally score in order to have a better chance at winning.

I want to keep this up, but my sense of decency prevents me.

Joe, you're being played like a fiddle.

We're making fun of the quote you posted by Mickey in the original post of the thread. Read it, see my response in the 2nd post.

There is not a single person alive watching football who doesn't know that scoring more wins. I didn't need an explanation, a clarification, or an exorcism. No one did.

Do you get it now?

Can someone explain to me how you lose by less than a point and then explain to me why we never have in that list of games?

He said in Jimmy Johnsons 3rd year he had less talent than the 2007 team.

That is an outright football dumb statement..

Not really. The 1991 Dallas Cowboys were still a very young football team missing some key future starters like: Kevin Smith, Charles Haley, Darren Woodson, Chad Hennings, and Thomas Everett who came to the team after that year.

Plus a bunch of their eventually impact players were in their rookie years: Erick Williams, Leon Lett, Russell Maryland, Larry Brown, Dixon Edwards, .

If they played head to head, the 2007 team would have absolutely beaten them, probably blown them out.
