I just got back from an Arizona Wildcats basketball game.

Before the game starts the guy who has the ticket directly in front of me comes in, Packers cap and an Aaron Rodgers jersey. I said, "Crap I don't want to look at that all game after last week." He turned around and I said, "I'm a Cowboys fan." He wanted to know if I thought the Packers could beat the Seahawks. I said, "Not in Seattle." He said, "I think I agree with you."

Then I said, "It was a catch." He replied, "I know. There's no doubt in anyone's mind."

I then said what I have been saying here, that I think Rodgers would have marched the Pack down for a FG to win. He shocked me.

"I don't think so. That score would have demoralized us. The refs doing that to you, demoralized you."

I shook his hand.

I shook his hand says so much, sir. Well done.:)

You assume the 2 pt. conversion would have failed?

I have yet to run into one person in my work and social life that thinks that Dez didn't catch the ball. Most of them do not like the Cowboys either, but it ticks them off that a play like that can be overruled.

And yes we were completely demoralized after that play, even though there was time left and opportunities to get the ball back and score. Garrett's "play through any adversity" was put to the test. Frankly that call was far worse than if we turned it over on downs or threw an INT, etc.

I'm still sick about it a week later. I though I would be ready to watch the games today but it's like attending a funeral.

The only people who do not seem to think it was a catch are referees, trolls, and idiots.

NFL got both calls right, move on!!

Yeah... And what really sucked is I saw that happen on real time, the first time and KNEW, per the bogus definition of the rule, that the game was over.

Wish he would have just pulled it in and secured it. 4th down man.
I ain't mad at Garrett. He is putting his signature on this team.
Going for it on 4th.
Going for it ALL on THAT play. Huge grapefruits.
He was besting to get to goal line.
It's who he is. Love the guy for that.

We needed to do more on offense. Rodgers overcame offensive miscues and won game. We didn't.
We needed to do more on defense. Just needed to get to Rodgers once or twice and we could win.

Simply want our time... Yet.... I hope....

Yes, all kinds of evidence that people can not have control of a football yet pull one arm away to gain better control. I mean we all know that as soon as any player doesn't have the ball they pull an arm away.

They got the call right about as much as Mini Me is a threat to break Serge Bubka's pole vaulting records.

Exactly. I'm sorry that bringing attention to this ridiculous inconsistency in how plays are called, which is directly tied to the complete idiocy in how the rules have been designed to give so much room for subjective interpretation, is inconvenient for posters like The Quest For Six. And that he doesn't understand that if people didn't question the established status quo, he wouldn't be living in this place called the United States of America.

Dallas didn't lose on that one play, there was four minutes left in the game and the Defense couldn't stop anyone, Murray's fumble, poor clock and play calling before the half, missed field goal(partially blocked), Kickoff fumble Dallas should of recovered, Hanna had it in his hands......NO, Dallas needs to fix it's defense and that starts with the defensive line, it's doesn't get any sustained pressure and the second area that needs fixing is the safety play, Church is nothing but a backup imo.....I have no problem with the call, hate the rule but it is what it is, I said as soon as I saw it live too when the ball came lose, if it came lose from hitting the ground, which it did, it was going to be overturned by the league rule, seen this rule enforced twenty times a weekend during the season and it amazes me that Cowboys fans seem unaware of the rule..

Come on. You didn't "know" it. You felt it because you thought it could be interpreted to be ruled as such just because the so-called "rule" is disaster of loopholes and an opportunity for anti-Cowboys bias waiting to happen due to the context of recent events.

Everyone who knows football knows it was a catch. Even the refs know it, and only a subset of them are weaseling their way out of it like a bunch of lawyers because it's "the rules", with complete disregard of other events on the field like being called down by contact, or other rules that require indisputable evidence to overturn the ruling on the field that it was a catch.

Which makes it worse because it smells of slime that is common to such sleazy defense lawyer tactics.

I've highlighted the first 14 words of the rule that I think you're referring to.

"If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground."

Without indisputable visual evidence that Dez was going to the ground in the act of catching the pass, this rule doesn't even apply to what happened.

Nice summary , and focused on the reality of what this team has and is becoming.

Carey was confused? Or is he still confused? It is nearly a week later and Carey is still calling it a fumble. He has had plenty of time to review the play and judge it as a fumble.

I'm not taking an issue with whether it was a fumble. I'm taking issue with him applying the same rule as if it were a catch. It wasn't.

Yes to all of what you said.... But.... Rodgers and his oline overcame their issues ... Our offense didn't.

Yes. I did know.... but what's the difference. I didn't "feel".... the rule is clear, wrong and all. Many "knew"

Yes. It's a disaster of a rule. Agreed.
