As Aikman said again yesterday the reasons expectations are high in Dallas is because of Romo. Without Tony I doubt this team would be doing much of anything right now.

True dat.

I think fans forget what this team was like with Drew Bledsoe.

As for the Cowboys hate, I'm surprised Cowboys fans get so upset about it.

Every league has a team folks love to hate.

The Yankees.
The Celtics.
The Cowboys.

It is what it is. If you say something bad about the Cowboys, it generates a reaction. If you say something good about the Cowboys, it generates a reaction.

Just understand it and you'll feel better in the morning - especially after a win. ;)

Honestly I don't get upset with what the media says I tend to get more upset by the so called faithful and the knee jerk reactions. How people can go from wanting guys cut based on a game or have them HOF bound after a game. There seems to be no middle ground with many. I came into this season with high expectation but also with the understanding that this team has things they need to overcome and improve on, if they do I think the talent is there to beat any team we face but if not we clearly are capable of losing to any team we face. Yesterday was a step in the right direction and now they need to follow it up with another solid performance

Personally, I would describe a lot of the comments about Tony Romo and the Cowboys in general as very guarded.

We have seen Tony Romo perform at a very high level in big games during the Regular Season in the past.

Tony Romo was never the problem with this team in the first place and it was extremely foolish for some fans to call for him to be benched and in some cases, even traded. Like Mike Ditka stated, the guy is just a heck of a football player and anytime he is on the field, he gives you a chance to win.

Right now, I just want to see Tony Romo continue to play at a high level, close out the last 1/4 of the Season strong and get the Playoff Monkey off of his back.

I don't agree with this Mick. I would say that Romo was not the only problem. I think that's fair but I do think he was a big part of the problem. When Tony can throw the ball accurately, our offense is damn hard to beat. When he can't, it's very difficult for us to get out of our own way. We tend to turn the ball over and get stupid penalties which we can't overcome if we don't have accuracy at the QB position.

Having said that, I thought that yesterday was the best game we've played this year. Both sides played well and we haven't seen that this year. This is an example of what we could be if we just played all out for 60 minutes, both sides of the ball. I was really impressed with Tony and really the whole team. They really came out and defended themselves against all sides. Was very nice to see them be able to put it all together. Good for the Cowboys I say.

it's annoying as hell and the slow-mo close-up of his ghastly smile pretty much proved that he's the Second Coming of "Sloth" from The Goonies.

:laugh2:

One of my favorite words ... ghastly.

:laugh2: Some of you take homerism to new heights.

The Cowboys just won back to back games for the first time since November of last season. They didn't just win a playoff game, and Romo has hardly proven himself beyond the inconsistent play of the last 10 games or so. It's a great start and he's two tremendous games in a row, but he has hardly taken abode with Manning and Brady.

Romo's a fantastic talent. Only a fool would deny that. But it remains to be seen if he can keep the turnovers to a minimum and get the Cowboys over the hump come December. The toughest opponent for Romo is the one between his ears, I suspect.

Looking at the schedule, I have little doubt the Cowboys will be in contention after Thanksgiving (barring injury to Romo). Even just going 3-2 in November would leave them 7-4 coming off the Thanksgiving mini-bye.

The season will then come down to the Giants, Chargers, Saints and Eagles in December (and January). Other than the Chargers, all are over .500, and I'd bet the Chargers will be well above that come December, and Washington hasn't been an easy out for the Cowboys in several years. That's where we'll see where Romo and his teammates really are.

The win against Atlanta was huge because you don't want to be .500 this far into the season and still have hope that you're a contender. I think this team also needed to make sure that they could still handle a good team. We've seen that Romo and Co can win a game like we witnessed yesterday. Romo's record pre-December has to be one of the best for any QB ever. He's what, 25-5 or some such from September to November?

But whether or not he's taken it to another level, whether or not the team has a spine at the end of the season, we don't know that yet. And if you want to pretend that yesterday somehow showed that, then you're a homer. Which, if that floats your boat, then great. Just don't pretend that you're not.
