Mike Fisher on the radio this morning

I'm thinking the same thing. He could have a calming effect on Garrett. Is there such a thing as offensive game management coach? In any event, Garrett could learn a lot from Norv. Those 90s teams became dominant after Norv came on board. Wouldn't it be something if he helped put us in the right direction again?

He just seems like a natural fit for Romo and the rest of the offense.

Very similar offensive system, believe both are based on Air Coryell though Norv seems to have had better success. Norv might also be just what Romo needs to get to the next level

The thing that really bothers me is how all throughout July/August Garrett chuckled at those in the media who questioned why we didn't have this play calling thing sorted out late into the preseason. With Callahan's propensity to leave jobs with beef, I'm not one bit surprised by this.

We know that after the bye, Garrett started relaying the call to Romo. We also know that at times, Jason looked like he was calling plays... There were times when the previous play was barely over before he was holding the playsheet up to his mouth and calling in the play. On those occasions, I don't think there was even time for Callahan to make the full play call and Garrett to repeat it. So I think Jason was calling them himself, at least at times.

We also know Broaddus has strongly suspected (at least) that Garrett was calling plays.

Yet Garrett insisted that Callahan was calling them.

This sounds like a joke, but I seriously wonder if Garrett didn't take over playcalling and they set up the system of Jason-as-relayer so Jason could claim Callahan was calling them and Jerry wouldn't know any better.

I mean, that's so wheels off, but it would explain why it looked so much like Jason was doing it.

At least in this game...

..I had no qualms about the play calling.

Now why..I'm not sure.

Romo not being in there..

..Orton not audibling us all to death and staying with what was called..

..different play selection because of Orton and simplifying the calls..

or just what?

You got any clues?

I would like to see Norv as the OC. When he was with the Niners, I believe Alex Smith had one of his best yr there. I think he could help Romo and this offense out a lot.

LOL Romo could not throw the ball in Norv's offense

I admit, I'd like to see Norv as OC instead of Callahan, but if true, this is just more Jerry pulling the strings, and not giving Garrett control over how he does his job. That way, if somehow the team experiences any kind of real success, Jerry gets to take all the credit - for the team, and the coach. Yeah, I know this is how it's always been. I just can't understand how Jerry still thinks this is supposed to work? And all this talk about firing Garrett? If Jerry hired Garrett for those reasons, and won't fire him because of those reasons, well, then if he does to decide to fire Garrett at some point, what makes us think he won't do the same thing with another coach? What, Jerry will have some sort of epiphany and realize he needs to go back to the way things were with Jimmy, where he gave up a large chunk of control? Yeah, like that's gonna happen. This stuff just gets better.

Even if Norv were to come in, it would still be Garrett's system so would it really be much different than what we have now.

Please tell us why. And do it without your hate on Romo. Romo can make some damn good throws when he is not injured.

There is a rift between Garrett and Callahan.

Fisher says that sometime around the bye week, Garrett went to Jerry and asked permission (yes asked permission) to have play calling duties back. Jerry said no but they agreed to some type of sharing of the play calling duties. Believes as the season went along, Jason gained more control of the play calling (not sure if 100% control like BB has been saying). Callahan obviously is rifted by this.

He also said some in VR would like to replace Callahan with Norv Turner now that he is free. Fisher said Garrett sees Norv as a father figure. Pollack would then be promoted to the oline coach.

He also doesn't believe that Marinelli is going anywhere as long as things end amicably with Kiffin.

Since nothing is really changing at the top, he said Cowboys fans need to put their hopes on Will McClay.

Norv would be the natural fit as it is his offense. I look to hear that Kiffen will moved to a "special advisor role" so marinelli stays and becomes the DC.

You guys asking for Norv realize he would only be coming here to angle to get the head coaching job after Jerry finally gets rid of Garrett right?

Don't think so. Norv's been there, failed that.

I think at this point, he'll be happy just to be an OC again.

It is a valid point.
Orton is more of a fit in a Norv offense than Romo.

No it wouldn't. It would likely be a massive improvement.

He's got a career losing record and four playoff trips in 15 seasons. He's an awful head coach. His career is basically along the lines of what Garrett's would be if he were given 15 years to suck as a head coach.
