Mike Fisher: Source Reveal number one reason our head coach was hired!

Wow, just wow. From the looks of things, this is a culture change situation the Cowboys are trying. It will be a "lovefest scenario" within the plush confines of Jerry World. It's all about Bro-bonding!

It's a world of players being feel-good providers to their teammates. In the meantime, perhaps they could even try making pro football a secondary goal to find success with. Simply fantastic stuff. ;)

The culture not an HC fix.

The culture is an expensive, glittery stadium with an afternoon glare problem "feature".

The culture is $50 guided tours of a $1.5B practice facility that features a depleted strength and conditioning staff.

The culture is holding up a Cowboys jersey with a "Blockchain" name tag at a "historic" press conference 2 weeks before the NFL draft.

The culture is access, endorsements, and an "all news, is good news" mantra.

No HC stands a chance here.

Just me.......I know this is Fish but this is on par. Interestingly it's what the article isn't saying that strikes me. Bringing in a number of low-tier free agents from the outside speaks volumes of their disappointment with leadership from the so-called elite core players ( Dak, Lamb and Parsons ).

This is why I believe they have either lost or is losing confidence in Dak's leadership.
YOU HIT ON A LOT with this post gosh dang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Their disappointment with leadership from their core players wow, Micah is supposed to be one but can you count on him, does he pout a lot but then you see him on a podcast with different players, that could piss his teammates off (already has), Lamb is he really a leader he pouts a lot, Dak he doesn't play well enough in big games to be a leader!

Maybe a stronger minded coach would have been better, but it remains to be seen, I'll give Shotty a chance I guess

Sounds good in theory.

But this culture change needs to be among a roster of more talented players than those that were acquired in free agency.

If the culture change is among back up level players then the culture change won't amount to much, if anything.

Not one of the guys acquired moves the needle.
Fowler is the only decent FA so far out of how many...

Every new HC comes in, and we start hearing about culture...this team cycles the same ish over and over with new ppl.
Yup. Garrett was the best talker of them all though. A true con artist. He really had folks believing he was about culture then years down the line he's going to basketball games with players smh

So, Schotty is opposed to smashing watermelons?? :muttley:
Safer that frying bacon nude......ask me how I know

But on the serious, even though we know WHY he was hired ill still give him the benefit of the doubt as HC.

I don't give failing free agents the benefit because they've ALREADY failed!

That's not being a cynic.....its being pragmatic

Of course we all know he mentioned fixing the culture, but to fix the culture there had to be problems, none of us knew it meant the recent issues with law and Micah. Maybe there are more issues, maybe our head coach can do a better job of getting guys together when there's issues to squash it instead of letting it drag on into the media and kill our season!
because we all know when teams fight they dont win. You ever see Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson almost killing each other DURING A GAME? That was a few months before Jackson showed why he was Mr. October and those same two hugging each other as they won the World Series.

NO TEAM with 50 players is full of love. That many personalities are bound to have some guys that dont like each other, and thats ok.

It is nothing but an excuse for not winning.

When organizations have problems in their culture (defined as “the way we do things around here”) talk is the least important aspect of change.

What really matters is getting results on the field, not “talking” about how much better they are going to make the “culture”.

In fact, the BEST thing this entire front office could do for this culture is just literally shut up. Just…shut….up. Let your new head coach talk about the team, the players, etc.

Jerry and Stephen should not talk at all unless it’s about the next boxing match, tractor pull or concert at the “stayjum”. After the draft, let “Schotty” do the talking. In TC, let Schotty do all the talking. And finally, let your results do the real talking.

I won’t be holding my breath that this happens.
I know on Sunday, when those teams were running the ball down our throats, those guys in the huddle were saying, "If only Jerry wasnt talking on Wed, Id be able to shed this damn block and make a tackle."

Cmon..... blaming TALK during the week for crappy play on Sunday is just ridiculous. I never hear much from Bowl Cut Davis in Las Vegas, yet they suck every year. How is that? I mean he stays pretty quiet. Same with Dolphins owner, Jags, Chargers, and I can keep on and on. Why dont those teams win? I mean they have a "Real GM," their owners dont meddle, they hire real coaches, and yet they suck year after year.

It's no coincidence they are bring high character players. The comments and quotes from the free agent players are what they have heard is needed in the locker room from Schotty and FO.

The problem with Brian Schottenheimer as head coach has nothing to do with his abilities as a HC to address the deep and lingering culture issues that have plagued this team for a long time.

THE problem is having an owner who refuses to recognize HE IS THE PROBLEM. Jerry could have hired the ghost of Vince Lombardi to coach this team and inspire the players to focus 100% on winning. It wouldn’t matter. Because Jerry is the problem and he is not focused 100% on winning.

If Jerry truly loved and respected the wonderful history, reputation and fan base of America’s Team, he would have stepped aside a long time ago. Anyone can now see HE is the problem.

Until Jerry is no longer in charge, I do not expect major improvements on the field. It doesn’t matter who coaches. Because until Jerry Jones is gone, the HC will always be a pawn and a figurehead.
Very well said

The only thing I would add is that it’s not that he refuses to recognize that he is the problem. It’s that he is incapable of recognizing that he is the problem. It’s classic narcissistic behavior and it’s not going to change at this point in his life.

Risen and Coogi should not talk at all

I won’t be holding my breath that this happens.
Fixed it for you.
You're welcome.

And more... one source from here inside The Star claims that the culture fix was a primary power behind owners Jerry and Stephen Jones' decision to hire the first-time head coach.

"Maybe," the source tells CowboysCountry.com, "the No. 1 reason."

Absolutely nothing about this information requires this level of 'journalistic' secrecy. Period. Really makes me wonder about its authenticity DESPITE its decades long Captain Obvious relevancy.

Bringing in high character guys in the bottom of the roster is unlikely to cause any changes. And for years we have draft "character" guys high in the draft. How has that worked to change the culture?
