Mike Fisher sums up Murray situation perfectly

Is Murray a special talent? Thats really the argument of this thread. If you think Murray is special you want to keep him. If you think Murray is merely very good then you probably say he isn't worth the investment at the position.

And can we please holster the talk of Murray along Emmitt? In the same age range Emmitt's average was 15 games and nearly 1500 yards in an era where there wasn't multiple 4000 yard QBs every year. Yards are much cheaper now then they were in the 90s. Murray for the same period, with numbers a bit slanted by one outlier year, averages 13 games and about 1100 yards. So no we can't really equate these two in a meaningful way right now other then to say they were both Dallas Cowboys running backs under the Jerry Jones ownership who have both had at least one great season.

We had the shot at the Super Bowl just as much for the commitment to the run and the resources invested on the OL.

Look, Murray had a great year. But is he is special talent with a proven track record like Emmitt Smith? Is he like Barry Sanders capable of making something out of nothing and scoring from anywhere?

No. That is why the Cowboys will thank him for his incredible season and wish him well as he leaves the hallowed halls of Valley Ranch forever. Of course that is if he decides to pass on their offer.

As would Frank Gore or Marshawn Lynch or Adrian Peterson or Matt Forte or Leveon Bell or Arian Foster or Eddie Lacy or Jamaal Charles......

Murray had the good fortune of playing here, too. And if you haven't noticed, his burst is going fast. He's markedly slower than he was two years ago.

He runs tough, blocks well, and is a super player, but he can be replaced.

Yes just like those backs, all make more than 4 mill a year. Dallas has seen the Ju jones, the Felix Jones, Barber, Hambrick and a host of JAGS I don't want to go backwards, This team is moving in the right direction and Murray is not that easy to replace, anyone can play RB but few will play to the level he has and as I said those who can expect to be paid.

That 4 mill offer was made early in the season, Dallas will up that offer. I think the question is will Murray come down from his reported demands

Melvin Gordon?

Todd Gurley?

Duke Johnson?

Tevin Coleman?

I'd like to see it, especially for a cheap second rounder and money to spend on someone like, maybe, Ndamakog Suh? Also with a first-round pick on a pass rushing DE?

Barber=different situation. We just had a shot at the super bowl largely because of our one running back

which brings up another point, the odds of having a workhorse bruiser survive the season without injury is pretty slim. Whatever Dallas decides with Murray, they need to make sure there is some extra money (or a draft pick) to get TWO bruiser backs capable of getting positive yardage. We can't have the season go down the drain because one RB goes down. Is Williams that guy? I didn't see enough to tell....

And if things can't be worked out with Murray then they do become options it also means high picks we need for defense will go to get a RB. As for Suh forget it damn you guys want to save money by not paying Murray yet will fork over the money Suh wants not to mention the guys is a fricken head case who should he get to Dallas the league may not be so lenient on suspending him for his bonehead moves. I'm just sick and tired of idiot players and Garrett has done a great job of weeding those out of this team

Because Watt and Suh are the easily the most disruptive defensive players in the NFL.

I'm all for keeping Murray at the offer listed, maybe slightly more. But there are too many fresh college guys that, frankly, may be better for cheap.

Watt I have a lot of respect for Suh I have none, this draft is deep in defensive lineman I would just as soon continue to build as we have with mid level FA and draft selection not some over priced head case.

As for RB that may end up being the case if we can't work a deal with Murray but as it was with Jimmy and BP they would not play a RB much if they can't block as well as run

The thing I really don't understand is how Adrian Peterson is going to be that much cheaper than Murray? Shorter deal?

As others have said, he won't be cheaper. However, if you are going to pay Murray AP type money, then why not get AP if he is available for the short term? He is the homerun of the two players and has proven that even after injury. Murray is a very good rb, but isn't exactly a game breaker. You can only hope that this year Murray turns the corner and has more similar years to come IF JJ decides to pay him but its hard to gauge that.

As big of a knucklehead as he is, he's a boy scout compared to Charles Haley and Hollywood Henderson.

Henderson had problems that is why Landry shipped him off and his problems continued in Houston until it fell apart. Haley was an *** but Haley did not do stupid things that cost his team, Suh does

16 over 4 years is fine
If someone pays him more good for him

Why do we want the reputation of low balling players? We could just as easily let his agent know that we aren't willing to spend the money required to sign him on the RB position.

Haley did things that my mind can't even comprehend. I certainly can't post them here. When I heard it detailed once on The Ticket, I almost threw up.

The Patriots have been doing it for 15 years with everybody except Brady.

and when he came to Dallas much of that stuff went away Johnson told him upfront he would not tolerate it, Haley could be an *** especially to reporters which is why he is having a hard time making the HOF but on the field Haley was not an issue. Other thing with Haley and he has said it himself, he is bi polar. Regardless Garrett has cleaned things up, paying suh a boat load is not something that is going to happen.

You obviously don't know the stories. Trust me, imagine the most insane things you can think of, and it doesn't come close.

Regardless I don't want Suh anywhere near the Cowboys, enough with the morons. There is some very good talent in the draft that has been the best way to do things. Pats have shown you don't need to get over priced FA

I watched Suh completely dominate our offensive line. Gimme one of those.

I hope the offer is closer to $5 million per year for four years. Not that he can't earn more on the open market but a decent offer.
