Mike Jenkins leaving the field on a cart *ankle injury, severity not known*

newman just got dinged up practicing on punts.

it's not worth the risk, he might score once in the season, how many times might the guy he would have been covering score?

not worth it. No such thing as iron man football anymore, specialization is the name of the game now.
And Wade said he could have been back to practice that afternoon, but decided to let him rest. Not serious at all.

Returns are game-changers. Field position and momentum can be completely reversed in an instant. I don't want to waste another season of punt returns seeing Crayton tip-toe around and fall over after 5-6 yards. Give me Felix on kickoffs, Newman on punts, and let's make something happen.

What is 4 to 5 extra plays a game to a guy that is playing 60 anyway?

4 or 5 needless chances to get put out of the season.

Newman isn't good enough to risk it, just because he is the best returner doesn't mean he is good enough to risk losing him for the year.

We don't have a great return guy on the team, well actually I think felix could be great at it, but not sure I would even want to use him in that role, too important to the offense.

Bah, I just think that is a chicken **** way of looking at it. I really cannot remember anyone being seriously injured returning kicks or punts.

And none of us know how good Newman would be in the return game now...he has only returned 30 or so punts the entire time he has been in the NFL. The only real evidence we have is the other-worldly ability he showed in college. I, for one, would love to see if he still had it.

It's football...there's always risk. You simply can't worry about it. He is our best option returning punts, so put him back there. Period. Small risk for potentially great rewards.

And, BTW, when is the last time you remember a player being injured on a punt/kickoff return for us?

Your putting too much value into punt returns. We can put someone else back there and probably get a LITTLE less production but at least we save Newman from risk of injury. Losing Newman would hurt...A LOT. There is no reason to put him in more risk of injury.

Just because you said that now, someone will get hurt this year....take that back, knock on wood, or something...

Back in March questions were raised about whether the Cowboys were wise to trade cornerback Anthony Henry, a starter the last four seasons, and move forward with so much trust in the two second-year players, Jenkins and Scandrick. Just 11 days into camp, and already depth is a concern at the position.
Trading Henry was completely in the best interest of the Cowboys. Please.

It was a double positive.....We got rid of Henry and got Kitna

I remember a couple of years ago Wade cut Glenn and people were talking about how Glenn was awesome and we would rue the day.

Glenn went to Jaxx and promptly sucked.

Actually, he did pretty well that season in Jacksonville and we were stuck with Jacques Reeves being one of the biggest contributors to us losing to the Giants in the playoff game.

I felt we should have kept Henry until we were sure the CBs behind Scandrick could actually play. Seemed to be an unnecessary trade given the backup QBs that were available this offseason (byron would have been fine).

Plus, injuries to other teams' secondaries would have driven up his value. I'd rather have Byron and a 3rd or a 4th round pick.

Dude, AH was terrible. He was slow, played 10 to 12yrds off the ball regardless of the situation. On 3rd and 3, he would be 10yrs off his man and would give up the 1st down every time. As for Leftwich, his windup and release is way to slow...

I never said I liked the dude, but he can be my fourth corner any day. Focus more on the fact that the Cowboys didn't quite maximize his trade value while also taking on the least risk. This could have been achieved by waiting until TC to trade him.

I never understood that and it would drive me nuts. Campo and Wade should have put a stop to that. Man I'm glad Henry is gone. He sucked so bad.

We needed a backup quarterback and we needed to cut Henry. It just so happens we killed two birds with one stone. Kitna will be a great mentor to Romo and McGee.
