THe irony is that Leach is the only one that wanted the kid.

I've noticed you haven't really given your thoughts on the situation. What do you think?Dawgs0916;3184747 said:Just because they are the same style of coach, doesn't mean it will equal success.
Briles is a good name, but I would feel bad for Robert.

Is Craig James a part of that show? Because I've read several emails from several people siding with Leach, including Graham Harrell.DallasCowpoke;3185026 said:College Football Live is playing several quotes from CURRENT Tech players, and they seem to overwhelmingly side with Adam James.

yimyammer;3185041 said:Really? Who were the players? Did they play for Tech? This is the first positive support I've heard for Adam (not saying who's right or wrong because I don't know)

Rackat;3184482 said:Talk about a BS move. Craig James, regardless of his pedigree at SMU, overstepped by using his position at BSPN to get Leach fired. Yeah, he was watching out for his son, but if it was any other parent, it would not have ended up like this.
yimyammer;3185093 said:Lighten up dude, in my surprise and in spite of it being bolded, I overlooked that.
Can you elaborate on what they said?
DallasCowpoke;3185139 said:My bad. I didn't listen that closely, but I do recall it was 1 DB and 1 C.
The C basically said many players were glad he was gone and Leach's actions were uncalled for.

Dawgs0916;3185258 said:Also, I can 100% tell you that Adam James is no longer welcome here at this University, by an OVERWHELMING majority.

Good read and thanks for posting. I actually took the time to read it all.Dawgs0916;3185253 said:I come into this thread finally now that everything has died down around here. I am personally involved in this situation on a few different levels (knowledge wise).
I worked at the biggest law firm in Lubbock last year as a freshman, "Crenshaw, Dupree, & Milam". In doing so I came into daily contact with many many people in the legal field. This includes one Ted Ligett, the lawyer. for Leach. He is a straight shooter with a great sense of humor. Much like Mike Leach, which is why I think they hit it off. Leach could easily be his own counsel, seeing that he has his own law degree to work with. I also know many of the county clerks personally as well.
This being the case, after my shift at the airport today I rolled over to the courthouse to see if the hearing would be open to the public in the 99th district court. It turns out I never got a chance. I saw Liggett handed a letter from someone (who I didn't know), smirk, shake his head, and go into a room. I waited in the lobby to see Leach walk out with him, with a blank look on his face. I wasn't sure what had happened, until I talked with one of the courthouse policemen, who had been inside the chambers when Liggett told the Judge the hearing was no longer necessary as Leach had just been fired.
I walked out and waited a second and couldn't contain it any longer and I yelled at him that Lubbock loves him, and that Gerald Myers needs to be fired.
Now, onto my personal opinions on the entire situation.
I am completely and utterly disgusted at what transpired. There has been an obvious rift between Coach Leach and the administration here, dating back to last year. Leach has a big ego, and I think that didn't play over well with the regents here. A name that is not brought up often as one of the big time anti Leach big shots here, is Chancellor Kent Hance.
It has been obvious that those two egos clash big time. And I am quite sure he had a big influence in convincing both Myers and President Guy Bailey to move forward with this.
As for the James situation in particular, what a load of laughable BullCrap. The sissifying of football is getting completely out of control in my opinion. I know several CURRENT players, and I happen to be good friends with Brandon Sharpe, who I just finished talking with a little earlier. Adam James IS IN FACT A LAZY PLAYER WHO FEELS HE WAS OWED SOMETHING BECAUSE OF HIS FAMILY.
I was told he is more of an outsider to the team because of that fact, and that James was constantly clashing with coaches because he felt he knew more than them, and often times would skip weights, and loaf during conditioning drills. I was told that Leach was constantly trying to motivate the kid.
I have never had a concussion, no. But I have seen players literally brought to tears from a coaches berating, sometimes deservedly sometimes not.
And that was in high school. These guys get their education paid for, plus a ton more perks. In Tech's case, they also get the privelege to play for a winning program.
Sometimes that means taking what's dished out to you. I can assure you I have read MANY a quote from players stating their love for playing for Coach Leach....Laron Moore is one current player who has come out publicly to defend him.
You better than most should know how the media tends to blow things out of proportion. Something you learn from playing the sport is that without fail, the players who complain about the coach are ones not getting playing time or touches they think they should get. Which turned out to be the exact situation here, when all the stories came out.
Do not be fooled into thinking that Leach was fired for mistreatment of players. He was fired because of clashing egos between him and the powers that be. Also, the number 800,000 is very significant. He was due that amount if he was coach of the team tomorrow, and ironically he was fired a day beforehand. The administration took this little complaint and ran with it to complete their agenda and legally be able to get rid of him.
It's a shame. He built the program into what it is, and brought national prominence to less than spectacular Lubbock, Texas. He gave us as fans a reason to cheer, and made it even more fun due to his quirkiness. He pushed for the current stadium renovation, and expansion, and has slowly been getting higher and higher rated recruits. The administration has risked blowing it all because of petty issues.
Don't be surprised if Leach ends up at Washington State. He loves the West Coast, and he could do some great things there, as they, pathetic as it may sound, have better facilities, and more funding than we do.
As far as new coaches, it has been widely known that if Leach ever left, Texas Tech rooted Art Briles would "slide right in." I say not so fast. Briles has it good in Waco right now, with a program on the upswing. Pristine facilities, unlimited money, and a super star in the making at QB, in Robert.
Sumlin is a good name. He has done a great job with Houston, and we would be a step up for him.
My money is on him or going the cheap route and keeping Papa Bear Ruffin Mcneill as coach.
If anybody took the time to read all that, I tip my cap.
