Who cares? Ginger was a coach of the year once so that shows you what its worth
People hate on Garrett and he was terrible at times year but certainly 2016 wasn't one of them. HE lost his starting QB and got them to 13 wins with a starting rookie running back and quarterback, a past his prime Dez, past his prime Witten and Terrence Williams.

Mike McCarthy for Coach of the Year?

Coach of the Year
Mike McCarthy
Dallas Cowboys · HC
Current odds to win COY: +5000

After another postseason flame-out, Dallas has been written off by many. Despite leading the Cowboys to three straight 12-5 records and a pair of division titles, McCarthy has caught a ton of flak thanks to the franchise's lofty expectations.

But the narrative could change quickly if McCarthy wins 12-plus games again with a weaker roster and a trio of stars (Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons) currently vying for new contracts. The people management and tactical approach needed to navigate a challenging assignment could finally lead the football world to give McCarthy his flowers as a great head coach.

I enjoy having McCarthy much more than the 2 guys before and has established a more consistent playoff contender. If he does it again and can find a way to get the Cowboys atleast to the NFC championship with the pitiful offseason the front office had he deserves to run away with coach of the year.

I think as a head coach McCarthy is fine. Maybe even as a OC. He seems to understand what those before him didn't. How to manage a game. Unfortunately for him he didn't get the benefit of having Fredericks, Tyron, Martin, Leary, etc. in their prime and a young Zeke.

If he wins 6 games and doesn't get fired by mid season that would be impressive.

Jerry is doing his best to set MM up for failure, and it may or may not work

Coach of the year don’t dissect who your wins are against.
They kind of do.

Coach of the Year doesn't typically go to coaches who are 12-20 against playoff teams since 2020. Throw in his final two seasons in Green Bay (so you can't blame Dak or the Cowboys in general) and he is now 13-29 against playoff teams. That is awful.

Coach of the Year caliber coaches also don't go into lameduck seasons. They tend to get resigned well before their final season.

Coach of the year for whatever high school team he'll be coaching.
Sheesh this team is really in need of a leader and a hero.

Sorry but McCarthy isn't even close the guy fails in the biggest moments.

Nobody cares about Coach of the Year anybody can get lucky and win that Garrett did it with the right influx of talent at the right time .

Huh? What are you talking about? Jason Garrett is a coach of the year winner lol. That negates all of this lol. You’re letting your bias cloud that the award doesn’t go to the best coaches but who does the best job.

Coach of the year has nothing to do with post season…..
It does for me. Like I said, I think MM has been a pretty good coach here, but if another coach did the same but also with some success in the post season, I don't know how you could ignore that difference.

Biggest moments? Heck he can't even en handle penalties and discipline if it wasn't for Quinn turning the defense around in year 2 he'd been fired then.

I think Mike McCarthy was a big step up from Garrett as our HC, although, there's room for improvement. The fact that he's saddled with Jerry and Stephen as the Cowboys' front office is more of a credit to MM than a fault, however. Regardless of who our head coach is in the future, the awful shortcomings of the Dallas FO is a heavy cross to bear, for any prospective head coach that one might name. It's a difficult situation, for sure.
