The trajectory is trending upwards. There's no reason aside from coaching that this team, with all of the injuries they've dealt with...QB1 down for 5 weeks, HOF LT out most of the season, MLB and 1T down, two starting corners out for the season, etc...should be sitting at 12-4. They have more wins against winning teams than anyone else. They've beaten the current #1 and #2 seeds in the NFC, as well as the #2 seed in the AFC. They just scored 27 against a tough Tennessee defense on the road and won by 14. It's considered by most to be an ugly win. Let all of that sink in and get back with me about trajectory... .. .
Tough Tennessee team? They rested 17 starters. We are not trending upwards the last month. This team is treading water heading to the playoffs. Even Stevie Wonder sees it.

Disagree completely. He's doing a fine job.

What kind of spoiled pissant complains about the coach of a back to back 12 win team? The same team that just beat a team by two touchdowns while playing at best a C level game on their part. Like I said earlier this week.. the inability to stay focused and keep your eye on the prize is part of the price for having such a young team. I believe the Cowboys are still one of the 4 or 5 youngest teams in the league.. and that's with having a 40 year old on the active roster. Without Peters they might be the youngest. They won the game.. Yes they looked terrible doing it.. and I don't care.

I said tough Tennessee defense. Maybe bringing up Stevie isn't the best choice if you're going to gloss over the finer points of the post.

I'm a bit confused though...did we not just beat a 1-loss Philly team a few days ago? Do we not have one of, if not the hottest offense in the league? Did we not just add some spice to that offense by adding Smith and Hilton into the mix? A 1-loss December dealing with some tough injuries is far from treading water.

Mike McCarthy was hired to get this franchise that has been hanging around the rim for a decade plus to finally dunk the ball in the playoffs. He has failed to keep this team motivated down the stretch of this season. He has failed to get them to stop riding the roller coaster of playing down to weaker opponents. He has failed to develop and coach the QB hard. He has failed to maintain any type of momentum heading into the playoffs. I’m very disappointed in him bc my hope was his championship pedigree would finally push this franchise over the edge. With the way this team is limping into the playoffs, it should be obvious to all what lies on the horizon.

Man, I HATE posts like this.

Only 3 Cowboys teams have ever won more than 12 games in a season: 1992, 2007, and 2016.

Not sure what you want ANY coach to do. We’ve had an EXCELLENT regular season compared to every other Cowboys season since going to a 16 game schedule in 1978. If we have anything to play for and we win our last game, no coach will have ever won more regular season games. Not Landry, Johnson, or anyone else. The only thing MM has done is:

- Coach the team to its first back-to-back double digit regular season wins since 1995-96. That’s 26 years.

- Coached us to back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time since 2006-2007, which was 15 years ago.

And unlike many years past where we were sweating the last 1-2 games to determine if we were even going to post-season play, we’ve been guaranteed a spot in the playoffs since Week 14 after the Jax game when we were 10-4.

MM hasn’t ‘failed’ to do anything other than make a deep playoff run.

Some fans expectations are ridiculously stupid.

If MM was brought here win a bunch of regular season wins Jerry would extend his contract tomorrow. Like I said he was brought here to put this team over the edge. For deep playoff runs. That starts with playing good football in December. Teams don’t just flip a switch in the playoffs, they typically get hot at the end of the season and then stay hot in the postseason. Despite the wins, the brand of football they are playing will get them knocked out in the playoffs quickly. Too many turnovers, too much inconsistency on defense. These are trends we all see and know will bite us down the line bc we saw the same thing under Garrett.

I expected more than one sack versus Josh Dobbs off the street and a backup oline.

Are y’all just watching box scores and not observing some disturbing trends heading into the playoffs?

You obviously didn’t read the first sentence in OP.

you are talking about a hypothetical that hasn’t happened yet and saying somebody has failed when the playoffs aren’t even here. This is sad

So true man. It's just a shame that the "winning standard" has sunk so low that it no longer means the same thing to all who post here.

So were you one of those "this team will be lucky to win 6 games" people before the season started? I refuse to get mad about a playoff loss that has yet to happen. I don't know how you people who do that get through life man. The Cowboys did not play well tonight.. and still won by 14. They committed three turnovers and ran for under 3 yard per carry.. and still won by 14. This notion that good teams blow every bad opponent out or they're not any good is stupid. The Chiefs needed overtime to beat that same Texans teams people assured me didn't belong on the field with them OR the Cowboys. Teams have games like this.. To have a game like this and still win by two touchdowns speaks to how good this team is. This sort of thing encourages rather than discourages me. Because I don't expect them to play like this against good teams. They're 5-1 against teams that currently have a winning record. They're 2-1 against the top two seeds in the NFC. I'll accept an occasional "overlook" game (that we win) if they continue to show up big against playoff teams. Because from here on out.. every opponents is a playoff team.

You’re smart enough to know that every coach we are playing against knows the only way to compete against Dallas is to get rid of the ball fast. That is the only way offenses have a shot against this defense.

No, he’s not smart enough to know that.

The point spread was 13.5 and Dallas covered it. Only fans expected it to be a 30-point blowout.

McCarthy has back-to-back 12 win seasons. Let's see how they do in the playoffs before declaring he's "failed".
The Dallas Cowboys under Landry and Johnson always covered the spread and why my Dad was a Cowboys fan.

McCarthy and anybody that knows NFL football knows you do not have sacrificial lambs on an NFL schedule. They handled their business, they ain't winning the NFC East, getting home field advantage, and hopefully the C can play for the playoffs

You don’t know what he will or won’t do. It’s his THIRD YEAR as coach. This is the NFL, not high school or college. Every team is full of pro athletes, there are no Bulldogs v. Vanderbilt games. Any team can win any week. EVERY week sees a ‘weak’ team win or a ‘strong ‘ team lost. We covered the spread tonight. We did exactly what we were supposed to do.

Fans like you spit out clichés like ‘getting hot in December’ and ‘the brand of football they’re playing’. We’re 6-1 over the last 7 games. I guess we could be one game ‘hotter’.

I understand that having the best offense in the league since Dak has returned is cause for concern. I’ll barely be able to sleep tonight

Titans sat 17 starters. Played a QB who joined them a week ago. Yet the Cowboys found a way to play down to their competition. My hope was MM end this trend. He has not.
Wow. 17. How many of those 17 actually played Sunday? Sounds pretty smart running fresh guys kut there when your opponent goes to battle with guys that played Sunday against the freaking eagles.
