I think MM had an idea before he accepted the job. But he also wanted to see how it went. As he said he was not familiar with it or the terminology. But he did not want to change it, and said he would learn it. As changing it up would not have been good at the time.

I think after his 2nd year he knew a change was needed. As Dak was injured most of the year with a broken ankle, so hard to evaluate the offense. But it took the 3rd year to convince Jerry (KM being his next 10 year coach in training) to go a different direction. And as he was also more familiar with the overall schemes and terminology. So he now knows what needs to change.
Do me a solid and change the OP to MM...
I screwed up

Maybe pacing was an issue on offense, if anything. Instead of scoring 40 points and holding the ball for 30 minutes McCarthy wants to score 30 and hold the ball for 40 minutes. Dak seemed to do better in the hurry up, though, so it's hard to blame Moore for that.

MM should have been calling plays since day one. KM was Dak's backup...I don't think he had the stones to get in Dak's face and tell him to stick to the script. MM is under the gun now.....that's a good thing for us.
Glad you are still here!
Mac should have installed his offense and called plays from the start.
It was totally ridiculous.
Wonder what the real story was?

Or is it...no matter what Dallas does, many fans will say it sucks?
We seen it before...Dallas does it, they suck, another team does it, they are genius.
Yes, Dallas has not been to a NFCCG for a very long time, so obvious it is not working. :muttley:

Just offering a different perspective.
To say “it sucks” requires just facing facts
One of only 3 franchises out of 32 to not to have even made it to their CCG in 25 years

That is abject failure

Only a complete moron and tool would support such incompetence

Yet some do under the guise of “fandom”

Anyone that thinks the Cowboys have just upgraded their offensive coordinator will discover they're sadly mistaken. This is a lateral move at best.
Check back after next season.

Maybe the team throws a bunch of resources at the offense- that would do more than changing the OC. The defense wiould suffer then, which will be sad as they are finally putting together a decent defense. Just see how well the strategy of pounding the ball on the ground works when the defense is giving up more yards/ points. Hope I'm wrong.
If fans that don't know crap wouldn't complain.....KM would still be here. You did you're job! Lol!!!

Addition by subtraction. It can't be any worse.
Is it? What sort of evaluation and analysis have you done that tells you it's a lateral move?
Dallas was #4 in the NFL last season in points per game. So yes, it can certainly get worse. A lot worse.

KM is highly regarded throughout the league. He was considered for several head coaching jobs, and got hired immediately after leaving Dallas. Teams around the league think more highly of him than many of the posters in the forum.

I don't the KM was the problem, or was holding this team back last season. A year from now we'll know, and it won't be a subject for debate any longer.

He's gone for a reason....play calling in crunch time was my concern and not being able to get in Dak's face and rip him a knew one was also a concern for me. Time to move on. I'm not saying he wasn't a good coach....many coaches and teams need a change, sometimes. Why did Bienemy leave KC?

Hope to hell it works…..something’s got to give here.

no predicting the outcome so no reason to crap on it or glorify it…….that’s what results are for.

but no reason to not speculate.

Jerry makes this decision, not MM.

No, that's not how it should be, but MM knew about this when he took the job, and knew Jerry was going to handcuff him to certain things. This is simply one of those things that has now been corrected.
My speculation was the Jerry thought KM was the next boy wonder genius HC in waiting and KM being the OC was a condition on Mac getting the HC gig.

Play calling is an art....you have to call plays to maximize your talent, play field position, control the clock and protect your defense...
Just like everything else, experience is a big factor in developing the art of play calling. No matter how much innate feel for play calling a person has they're still going need to get the experience and make the mistakes to develop.

Moore might very well evolve to be a great play caller. It's just to bad that we had to endure his learning curve years.

I just wish this whole organization would just say 2 words when a mic is shoved in their face, no comment
