He could have called a timeout but a couple of things to take into account.

It seems he asked for a reset and it was granted but was never resettled.

Got to check the replay but he also probably thought that the Browns would call a timeout to ice the kicker but it didn’t happen.

Jones should fire Big Mike today. This kinda thing could ruin a perfectly good victory.

One of the top priorities for a head coach is game clock and time management.

And McCarthy continues to stink at it.

How many times does he get to bungle it before he gets held accountable?

He robbed Aubrey of his chance to make NFL history with the 66 yarder.
We had 2 timeouts, and a delay of game was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!

This will bite us again in the future like it has in the past.
Scoreboard: 33-17

So your answer is that we lose a timeout because the refs screwed up and didn't fix it when it was pointed out far before the snap?

In gaming this out what was the negative outcome that we suffered from this, btw?
LOL, there was 4 seconds left in the half and he had TWO timeouts. What would he be saving his timeouts for at that point?

In gaming this out, we potentially lost three points.

Acts dumb in weird situations. I don't know what is wrong with him. Called a masterpiece in the first half for the most part then from the time of the Aubrey incident to the end of the game, acted like he had no idea what was going on. ADD head coach if I've ever seen one. Annoying.
Why can’t he have an assistant help him with that. He botches the clock all the time. This time it cost us 3 points and Aubrey a record. This may cost us a game in the future. He is just not observant. How long did it take him to throw the red flag when the Brown’s obviously did not catch the pass?

that is not the end of the game. that is just gaming it out until it gives a facile appearance you want.

what I think is that you guys are reacting to your anger as usual -despite a win- and looking for things to whinge about.

Who is to say that there is not an assistant doing that and that or something else was at a issue? I mean MM has talked about having that in his PCs over the years after all.

It looked to me like the refs didn’t wind the clock. But I would have let him take the 71 yard shot. He had the show on tight and was putting the boot to it..

No. Watch the replay.

Clock did not reset -- Mc and Fassel were both on the refs. There were many instances today of clocks and downs being messed up. Pay attention to things that do not fit your agenda.
You explained why the clock ran down quicker than normal. We all know why it happened and yes, that is the official's fault. But coaches should ALWAYS be aware of the clock and where it is. You assume nothing. We had 2 timeouts anyways with like 5 seconds to go. Who cares, use one. Then gripe at the refs in the process and let them know. To just let it go all the way down to zero was pretty terrible. Erased a tying NFL record FG and erased 3pts off the board. Do we not have coaches paying attention to the play clock at all times?

So many were frustrated with it yesterday but were met with "can't you just be happy" "we are still winning", "We are up big so doesn't matter".

Except this happens every single year with him. He might call a good game on offense but his clock management is questionable every year. And it was on Green Bay, too but Aaron Rodgers masked a lot of it. We aren't going to be playing Cleveland every week and not going to always be up big. Erasing points because of those blunders are not good at all.

Couldn’t agree more . One of these “yes men” in the media needs to bring it up and ask him why he cost Dallas 3 points before half .

Incorrect.
The play clock did reset. The game clock also ticked down a full 40 seconds after the previous play.
McCarthy and Bones were just trying to deflect attention from their mistake.

And on the Fox broadcast which had a terrible crew neither one of them were that critical . I mean please how many times is MM going to either make the wrong red flag challenge or not call a Time out when needed . Did Jerry even spill his drink ?

If he calls a timeout he gets accused of icing his own kicker and then never lives it down. Tell me it never happens, go ahead, do it.

Even if the clock reset or was frozen on 1958 Browns Giants Frank Gifford doesn’t matter . The game clock the play clock are still stadium visible counting down to Dr Strangelove doesn’t anyone on that sideline notice .

I have to admit both of my football teams, boys and heels both coaches are not the greatest when it comes to clock management.

Look it’s better to “ ice the kicker “ then to let the clock give you a 5 yard delay of game .

Well if he has been working on this obvious deficiency, it ain’t working.
