Memory serves me, we already had one of our own coaches ice his kicker years ago against the Ravens.
being play caller can distract a HC from what is going on in the game. Then there was the Browns making that first down near their goal line and the Cowboys put their offensive unit on the field. It was as if McCarthy wasn't paying attention to the refs or the game sometimes. The refs clearly signaled first down and that was the time to challenge. He didn't. What had him so distracted that he lost track of downs and the play clock?
He called a fantastic first half. The second half was too conservative but still helped win the game.
Dude -- you are clueless. The coaches are not going to sit there and stare at the clock. That would be incredibly inefficient.Try again.
Even if it didn’t reset…..they should ALWAYS be paying attention to it and call time out if needed. Or they should have alerted the refs ahead of time to reset it.
Instead…..they were completely oblivious to the situation until the flag was thrown.
You said why should he waste a timeout due to a ref mistake. Easy, he has two left, there is four seconds left, he loses those timeouts anyway so just call one there and be done with it.that is not the end of the game. that is just gaming it out until it gives a facile appearance you want.
what I think is that you guys are reacting to your anger as usual -despite a win- and looking for things to whinge about.
That is not all I said. I know you like to fixate on what you think you can win and ignore the other arguments. You said why should he waste a timeout due to a ref mistake. Easy, he has two left, there is four seconds left, he loses those timeouts anyway so just call one there and be done with it.
If he wants to ***** about the ref mistake, great. But there is no reason to not use a timeout there given only four seconds left and you had two to burn anyway.
It's early in the season for coaches too.I'll enjoy the win rather than harping on what went wrong. But you're right McCarthy has to be better in those situations and get the time out in.
Not nearly as bad as he continues to leave time on the clock for the opponent to drive the ball downfield before halftime. One of the top priorities for a head coach is game clock and time management.
And McCarthy continues to stink at it.
How many times does he get to bungle it before he gets held accountable?
He robbed Aubrey of his chance to make NFL history with the 66 yarder.
We had 2 timeouts, and a delay of game was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!
This will bite us again in the future like it has in the past.
The officials made a mistake. They are supposed to reset the clock when they let the defense substitute. One of the top priorities for a head coach is game clock and time management.

The chains had 4th down on their markers. Then there was the Browns making that first down near their goal line and the Cowboys put their offensive unit on the field. This! I don't know why people have such a hard time with this. The chains clearly said 4th down and everybody played it that way. If they had made it first down McCarthy probably would have challenged the spot. This business of looking for any and every reason to trash our players and coaches makes this place unbearable at times. The chains had 4th down on their markers.
The fact the refs made a mistake doesn't change the fact that someone on the sideline should have seen the play clock winding down and used one of their two remaining timeouts with 4 seconds left. The officials made a mistake. They are supposed to reset the clock when they let the defense substitute.
Way too many short yardage passes that fell to the ground on 3rd downs, resulted in a sloppy 2nd half. One of the top priorities for a head coach is game clock and time management.
And McCarthy continues to stink at it.

Exactly. The refs not doing their job is not an excuse for McCarthy not doing his.Try again.

The Cowboys clock management was awful. Can the players other than team captains not call a time out?
They should still be watching the clock and used a timeout instead of just letting it go down to zero and crying about the refs.No. Watch the replay.
Clock did not reset -- Mc and Fassel were both on the refs. There were many instances today of clocks and downs being messed up. Pay attention to things that do not fit your agenda.
