Mike McCarthy throws subtle shade at Jerry Jones over glaring Cowboys roster flaw

Just shut up Coach and make this work...

Cook saw 17 offensive snaps in his season debut with the Cowboys in Week 8, playing well behind Ezekiel Elliott in the absence of lead back Rico Dowdle. Dowdle is off the injury report in Week 9 after missing the previous game, meaning we are unlikely to see Cook see immense volume against the Falcons.

Rotating running backs between 3 of them (including Luepke who lines up in the back field) further limits plays and then not running the ball enough and/or effectively makes it even worse.

...this statement has more fruit baring the GB game. Dallas had no business losing that game. The world knew it.

Now Jerry, is using MM has scapegoat. Giving less to work with. Basically. "*** Off".

Let's just see what he says when he's HIRED as an NFL commentator on ESPN and has no ties to the Cowboys like several others have gone on to do, let's see then what he says lol
He'd be gone right now if Kellen Moore was still on the staff. Jerry wants to hire him badly as the next HC. Wait for it.

He should've been more vocal in the off season. All Jerry's yes men fell in line though didn't they? I imagine they all stand around and compliment what a supreme tactician he is. If you aren't willing to beat on the table and demand the players you need you're complicit in this buffoonery.
Exactly

Seems blatantly obvious that Jerry is all-in for the next coaching staff. They will have a ton of flexibility with the CAP for the next 4 of 5 seasons.

That doesn't mean that coming in injured that Dowdle gets the carries. Wisdom says get a strong look at Cook. Disagree with your assumed stance.

If used as developmental to a total scheme effect...three adaptive runners can be productive. You predicting failure here? *(coughing)

Has anybody seen the size of McCarthy? The shade he throws is anything but subtle. The guy could wear a white T-shirt and moonlight as a Drive In movie screen.

He's not soft rebuilding. He just sucks this bad.
I put this in bold because I want people to see this more clearly. We are not in a soft rebuilding season and we're not tanking, and Jerry didn't set up Mike for failure. Like you said, Jerry "just sucks this bad."

I suck too as a GM. I thought our revamped O-line was going to be our strongest group with the addition of Guyton and Beebe. I'm sure Jerry thought that way too. Boy were we wrong. I thought Guyton was going to be like Tyler and be a difference right out of the gate. And I didn't think Zach would be this bad. Steele too. From this untrained eye, it looks like Dak is making the line calls, not Beebe. A great center will make the line calls so the QB can scan the field beyond the LOS.

We have only a few great players. Tyler Smith and Aubrey. Really one because all Aubrey does his kick footballs. He doesn't actually play, imo.

In fairness, we have no idea how vocal he was. He wouldn’t hold press conferences to tell the public and media how much he disagrees with his employer. That would take place behind the scene

IMO the logic for this year:

Jerry after GB loss: ***? That sucked. Has to be the coach because I put together a great team.
Stephen: Well, if we fire him its going to cost us like $20m. Beyond that, we are going to have to let a bunch of good players go in free agency and have several big contracts up.
Jerry: Well, I don't want to pay an extra $20m for coaching this year for what is going to be a down year anyway. Let's just keep Mike, clear up the cap and then blame him for the bad year and let him walk.
Stephen: Oooooh. I like that. We make money and we blame team failures on someone else. But what if the fans figure it out? We want their money too!!
Jerry: Well, I'll just lie to em and tell them that we are all in and are a super bowl team.
Stephen: You mean like every year?
Jerry: Lol. Yeah. Suckers.

More like a greeter at Walmart

Despite claiming to be all-in, Jerry Jones said during the offseason that the Cowboys would have to do "more with less" in 2024. It's become increasingly obvious that this season is a "soft rebuild", as Cowboys Nation as coined it, before Dallas (hopefully) goes for it in 2025 and beyond.

The Cowboys preach building through the draft, but they have so many roster shortcomings that there's no telling what position they focus on in the first round. Between wide receiver, nose tackle, running back and offensive tackle/guard, Dallas has a plethora of needs.

Uhoh. That means MM knows he's not long for this clusterfudge. At this point, I'd be shocked if he didn't want out. Only reason he hasn't resigned is that it would cost him millions.

That's probably more professional. If I'm going down with the ship though, I'd probably mention we need some more help publicly. I'd also consider lobbying for certain players. It's definitely a fine line, but it's your resume as a coach. The worst he can do is fire you, which is going to happen anyway.

I'd be completely shocked if that WAS NOT what happened.

It’s funny he didn’t sing this tune before the season,
-And while McCarthy claims that, so far (Zeke), “it’s like he picked up right where he left off,” the coach seemed to confirm that the third-leading running back in franchise history- who turns 29 in July- won’t be logging 230-plus carries this year, as he had in each of his three previous seasons under McCarthy in Dallas.
“I don’t think that’s fair,” McCarthy said. “That’s not going to be his role.”McCarthy acknowledged that modern NFL offenses have largely moved past the days of the bellcow feature back.-
It's really not. MM was not for sure going to be fired before the season. Now, he is. That simple.

MM was probably going over some useless analytics when he should have been giving Jerry his input. Not that it may have really mattered.
