Mike McCarthy throws subtle shade at Jerry Jones over glaring Cowboys roster flaw

I'm convinced they all sign NDAs because I can't ever recall hearing the dirt from former coaches. AND I know there's dirt, lots of it.
It still wouldn't stop them from criticizing the former team. I think they don't do it out of respect. They're being paid millions to coach a team given to them by the GM. I think it's just a mutual respect thing.

Despite claiming to be all-in, Jerry Jones said during the offseason that the Cowboys would have to do "more with less" in 2024. It's become increasingly obvious that this season is a "soft rebuild", as Cowboys Nation as coined it, before Dallas (hopefully) goes for it in 2025 and beyond.

The Cowboys preach building through the draft, but they have so many roster shortcomings that there's no telling what position they focus on in the first round. Between wide receiver, nose tackle, running back and offensive tackle/guard, Dallas has a plethora of needs.

They could go in many directions on that 1st pick if they pick 8 or higher.

That's probably more professional. If I'm going down with the ship though, I'd probably mention we need some more help publicly. I'd also consider lobbying for certain players. It's definitely a fine line, but it's your resume as a coach. The worst he can do is fire you, which is going to happen anyway.
Before the season I’m sure McCarthy was hoping not to go down at all. Publically calling out Jerry and publically talking about his lack of confidence in existing players would have been opening the door for his own exit

He should've been more vocal in the off season. All Jerry's yes men fell in line though didn't they? I imagine they all stand around and compliment what a supreme tactician he is. If you aren't willing to beat on the table and demand the players you need you're complicit in this buffoonery.

How do we know he wasn't behind closed doors?

If it was good for him, but he should have made it public. Why go down with the ship? Might as well have publicly lobbied for talent and put pressure on the GM. You're getting fired anyway.

Besides that I don't buy it. If he had any back bone we'd have seen it already.

If Jerry is as disrespectful to his coaches as the fans will tell you, then i can't understand them having any "mutual" respect. All we here about is his meddling yet no one ever seems to speak against it.

I get that, but it's probably something he can tell the next team.

Problem is having to draft positions they already drafted, but the players busted. Add in the fact, Jerry n Stephen have no idea about the abilities of players on their roster or other roster means the team can't supplement thru FA signings.

Mike and his crap coast offense are part of the problem. Open it back up and help this offense.

OMG!! IDIOTS YOU NEED A QB!

JJ is a joke. How are you going to "soft rebuild", on a lame duck year. JJ should've should've just fired MM and secured his new HC. It would've been way more acceptable under those conditions. This is bad faith towards MM on this mess. I have zero confidence JJ will bring in suitable HC next year. It's going to be the same spill, all over again.
A rebuild of any kind doesnt include making Dak the highest paid QB in the league. The Jones boys are buffoons.

any "soft rebuild" that doesn't include a new QB isn't really a rebuild at all. Dak isn't getting better folks and he couldn't win it all when we had stacked teams. The really bad news is that this team is screwed for atleast three more seasons.

Rich, Drunk, Dumb Jerry Jones. He’s Rich … he Drinks… he says and does Dumb things!

Let's hope McCarthy fires away at Jones as he walks out the door. Really embarrass Jerry publicly like Jerry hasn't ever experienced before.

What McCarthy was really saying is, the RB committee can not have EE at the top of the pile.
