Mike McCarthy We will be good running the football and that's because we're going to commit to it

2 yards and a cloud of dust over and over again forcing the ball to Jerry's buddy won't make you "good" at running the ball.
I remember an Aikman interview where he mentioned the difference between McCarthy and other Head Coaches he talked with was he focused on rushing attempts, not YPC. So you may not be far off.

The running game is dependent on the OL, not the RB. If we can run the ball because of an improved OL, then we will bring in a new RB next year. Starting with the OL was the right move.
you and I combined are faster than zeke

If lame duck McCarthy says it it must be true, it's not like he'd say anything to please his senile boss and keep his job a bit longer.

4 won't win it for you so the running game has to carry him. Makes sense to me.

looooooooooooool and right up the middle, oh and the greatest of all BRING ZEKE IN on 4th and 1
And unlike our other RB's...GET IT!

Of course...if the o-line could make a hole...might help.

O line...NOT RB's...is who you zeke haters should be hatin'.

They did draft quite a few Olinemen these past few years. It would not surprise me if our running game does improve due to youth & power. Of course, we'll probably wish we had Tony or someone like him to fully exploit it. But I think it can be effective and that should give any coach more reason to rely on it.
Tony Pollard was not a special player as the #1 running back. He was good, and I appreciate what he did. But like Marion Barber before him, he excelled more at the #2 spot than as the lead dog in the run game.

I took Dalvin Cook with the last pick in my fantasy draft. LOL.

I appreciate McCarthy saying this but he's got a mediocre RB room that's likely going to force him to throw more eventually. I think the OL has a chance to develop into a pretty good OL over the season but I simply can't trust the RBs. With them, I need to see it to believe it.
I did the exact same thing with Cook.

I think it’s all about the offensive line blocking. If they do a good job of that, I think this uninspiring group of running backs can get the job done.

Zeke can still get what’s blood, he just can’t create big plays on his own anymore.

And I think Cook still has some juice. But we’ll see.

We won’t be able to commit to it if we can’t run and our defense isn’t playing well. Last season we weren’t good playing from behind. Our running back situation doesn’t make me feel real confident we’re going to be able to run the ball consistently. A lot of games will get put on the shoulders of Dak.

I was waiting for a reply to that comment and while I think Deuce can be a playmaker I couldn't have asked for a better reply!
