His explosiveness works well though if the line is creating any kind of lanes.Tony Pollard was not a special player as the #1 running back. He was good, and I appreciate what he did. But like Marion Barber before him, he excelled more at the #2 spot than as the lead dog in the run game.
If it's holding the linebackers an extra half tick before they can drop into the passing lanes then it IS working. As long as you have a top flight defense which we believe we will have there is absolutely no reason to go all Kliff Kingsbury and sling it every damn down. Balance is not about equal number of runs and passes.. Balance is about making the defense honor both possibilities every snap. You can't do that if you overload in either direction. Are we still going to be committed to it if it clearly isn't working? I don't buy into the strategy of running the ball just to do it for 30-35 attempts just to try and wear the defense down. This isn't the 80s/90s anymore. I am not saying we need to attempt 50-60 passes a game consistently but if the run is clearly not working and we get drives cut short because of it and continue to get behind the sticks, it's time to re-think the approach. Committing to something doesn't equate success.
Makes sense. If it's holding the linebackers an extra half tick before they can drop into the passing lanes then it IS working. To put the bug in their ear about the run game. Even if you don't really plan to do it, they have to honor it all week in practice and every snap in the game until proven otherwise. Of course you have to change it up if you get down multiple scores.. That's football.Makes sense.
The problems I see are that if you happen to find yourself down multiple scores in the second half you’ve gotta shift gears to a point….
And WHY tell the rest of the world what you plan to do?
Yep.HEARD IT ALL BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS. At least last year anyways.MAybe if the o-line could make a whole. Having to dodge the defense at the handoff kinda sucks, ya know?
Yes.Was McCarthy always this dumb, or did Jerry rub off on him? I never listened to him in Green Bay.
post of your career!!!!!!!!!!!THIS. At least last year anyways.
And now we're older and slower at RB so just maybe a different run blocking scheme would benefit us, ya think?
Naw, more like we just double down with the same scheme, bring back a washed RB as the bell cow and call it a day.
That sounds about right around these parts.
LOL
So...what do you want? Smear him in practice just to see what happens? And you are RIGHT! I've never seen someone be more right about zeke in years. If things go as they have in the past...he WILL get tackled "as soon as he gets the ball"...since the o-line can't block. PERFCTLY SAID! I'll grudgingly give a like for that!I really don't get what they see about zeke, in practice they're not tackling so zeke is out there running through an imaginary WIDE running lane, and he's running down the practice field acting as if he's about to score, when really he's going to be tackled soon as he gets the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
