"Yeah, he did ask for a meeting. He did talk about, number one, he wanted change...He actually [mentioned] what plays were acceptable and unacceptable, and when he started talking about what plays were acceptable and unacceptable, and that he wasn't a rookie anymore and wanted to voice his opinion, the term unacceptable is used by Dan, the owner, quite often. So [I had] a little bit of a smile when I heard some of these complaints."

Shanahan said Griffin was determined to throw more and run less, and that he didn't want to be associated with running quarterbacks.

"He wanted to be more of a drop-back, Aaron Rodgers-type guy," Shanahan said. "He did a few more things, and basically what I did is I went and talked to Dan, and I said, 'Hey, Dan, for a quarterback to come to me, a veteran coach, and share these things, number one, he can't be the sharpest guy to do something like that, or he's got to feel very good about the owner backing him up. And since you have been telling me from Day One that he's a drop-back quarterback and we should do more drop-back, and you guys have spent the last couple months together, I would think, or at least the last month, that this is an extension of you.' [Snyder] said it wasn't."

I'm only guessing Coach Shanahan is glad to be out of that mess. RG3 has turned out to be a wasted draft pick.

If you think about it, who is more likely to stay with a team longer, a HC or possible franchise QB(not saying RG3 is one)?

RG3 looked pretty good his rookie year, but I think Shanny is an idiot, and proved that with playing him, when he was injured. I would not let Shanny coach my team, I think he caught lightning in a bottle with the zone blocking and Elway in Denver, as well as cheating with the salary cap. I think he is a complete idiot. So, when a player comes to him, and says, I think this works and this doesn't or I am comfortable with these plays and not with these, why is that not a leader trying to lead and be successful? I think RG3 can be good, but he did have a major knee injury, did he not and an incompetent coach, and another coach who likes to play games, like his brother. So, in a way, I kinda feel bad for him.

I think Shanahan is a much better coach than RG3 is a player. I don't feel bad for RG3. No reason to.

Shanny - is an idiot - history says you are wrong
RGIII - can be good - history and future says you are wrong

When owner backs player, over coach, IT IS NEVER a good thing.

History also shows, Barry Switzer is not an idiot(NFL wise), but we all know he is one.

I think Shanny is an idiot. And that is fine that you don't, but who puts your young franchise QB in, when he is hurt, to get a worse injury, for absolutely nothing.

You seem to be missing the point of it all.

If nothing else, a QB doesnt tell his coach what plays they can run or not run. You have a veteran HC that has won Super Bowls and worked a miraculous system out in RGMe's rookie year to have success with a clown because he clearly knows what the guy can and cant do in the league.

Blaming the coach for the injury and plying him hurt is only an excuse. Players play hurt.
If RGIII would have had success when Shanny put him in then nothing would be said about it.

In other words : excuse, excuses and blah blah blah

RGIII ain't no good. Injury or not. BUST!!!

People looking to blame Shanny are just trying to give the soft skin diva RGMe a pass, that he doesnt deserve.

I can't say I'm surprised RG3 has bombed out in the NFL because you never know how a guy will transition to the pro game but I am surprised he turned out to be such a diva.

The funny thing is that you admit that he looked like a good player his rookie year.

Now sure you can argue about the injury thing and say that the HC should have stopped him from playing.

HOWEVER what you are missing from the whole thing is this.

RGIII did good his rookie year because he was running a read option offense. When they drafted him they decided to run that offense to cater to his abilities and strengths.

RGIII turned around and started telling the HC that he no longer wanted to be a read option QB. He told the coach he wanted to be a drop back passing QB. He got mad when they catered the offense to Cousins to be more of a drop back QB system and still wanted RGIII to run the read option.

When RGIII started telling the HC which plays were acceptable and unacceptable with language that indicated he has the backing of the owner...he did it so he was doing a drop back passing QB.

He was not the same QB going forward because he was wanting to play in a different system. It was not that he could not run, he did not WANT to run.

So sure anyone can argue that Shanny was an idiot for letting him play injured...however it does not take away from the gist of the article that says RGIII was trying to dictate to the HC which plays were acceptable and unacceptable and the idea that he no longer wanted to play in a system that catered to his strengths but go to a system that he would struggle in for some time.

Well when Dan Snyder fantasizes and salivates over his jockstrap, then it begins to make sense.

He gives preferential treatment for certain players.

Which is why we HATE him.

Even Joe Gibbs was only able to get us to the playoffs 2 of 4 season with Danny Boy as owner.

Sounds sort of like the Randall Cunningham story but in reverse.

Snyder looks to be fairly young..looks like he'll be around for a good many years "guiding" his team.

I love that snippet where RG3 was using words out of Snyder's lexicon like "unacceptable".

Dan Snyder seems exactly like the kind of executive that would walk around the office talking about how unacceptable things are instead of being constructive.
