You're right, there ARE some lines that shouldn't be crossed. One of them is manufacturing racism where it doesn't exist. Considering the sensitivity of the subject and the term and implication of such, where it doesn't exist, can be just as damaging as ACTUAL racism. Do you feel the need to inform the world of EVERYTHING that offends you?
Yes black people have been dragged behind cars. So have white people. Mexicans. Jews. I don't advocate sickening behavior regardless of the race or color of the victim or perpetrator. Which is exactly why I don't feel sorry for Michael Vick......even if he's black (sorry). I'd wouldn't feel sorry for Tom Brady or Tony Romo if they were convicted of the same sick **** that Vick was convicted for either. For all I care you could "chain their ***** to a buried axle", too if so convicted. I'm not an advocate of ANY type of prejudice, so you're barking up the wrong tree.
Just so you're aware, the skinsscalper moniker came about when the Skins fans started playing April Championship Football back in 2001 and bombarded EVERY Boys board known to man claiming "Championship" when they signed every has been name known to the game of football. The INTENT was to offend (and the offense had a bit to do with their racist logo and team name). BTW The moniker actually has a dual meaning. At the time the name was created, I had just gotten into learning how to golf and i was posting on a Rivals site that had a Cowboys board (Silver Star) and a golf board (Ham and Egg). Myself and three other co-workers played a "skins game" every Thursday, so the name was theme appropriate there, also. I've used the name on EVERY message board that I have been on since. They range from golf, to guns, to ebay, to the Cowboys to a Disneyland forum. Not that I would expect you to understand. You're too busy LOOKING for something to be offended by. BTW I have Cherokee blood, from my mother's side of the family. If my screen name offends you I can change it to beanscalper. I'm half Mexican, too.
I'll re-ask a question that you dodged earlier in the thread. Would it make a difference if the comment would have been made about a Mexican? Or a redhead? Or how about someone with green eyes? Now, if someone would have posted "they need to chain that n***** to a buried axle", I would have been right along side you on this one. I have no tolerance for that type of ignorance. But to manufacture something to be offended by because the person being spoken of is black and then label it as racism is, to me, just as offensive. That's where the Al Sharpton comment came from.
I don't think you're bad guy. Let me make that perfectly clear. I actually enjoy the majority of your posts. I just didn't see the need to manufacture a racist slant on a comment that had nothing to do with race. That, to me, is just as offensive.
That's pretty much all I have to say about the subject.
