As much as i like Austin right now, I would take Desean Jackson over him for right now

Desean Jackson does 1 thing though... Well 2 things he can return punts well.

Miles Austin can run the whole route tree. Jackson can't.

Can we draft Golden Tate? Same thought with the whole RB legs on a WR body thing.

Golden Tate has a chance to be another Miles Austin. I wouldnt mind having 2 Miles Austin's.

I absolutely love what I've seen of DeSean Jackson. I hate the fact he's so young and that he's a Eagle; my only hope is Philly can't resign him when his contract runs up.

The reason I say that is to make it clear what I'm about to say is in no way a "dig" on him: But having watched plenty of Philly football this year (but admittedly being well outside the loop on that team), I can't help but wonder if Jackson is a one-trick pony. Granted, he does that one trick very well, but he seems like a fairly limited receiver right now. It's either a 50-yard touchdown or, typically, it's nothing.

Miles, too, has a weakness: Can he beat a double team? He can drop 150 yards when singled, but the best of the best strike even when doubled, no? But I'm not sure even Jackson has proven he can be a consistent go-to guy when doubled.

Another way for me to put it is this: Austin is a nice big-play threat, but I think he's more of a guy that you can "feed" the ball to over the course of the game than with Jackson.

Steve Smith is nice, but I'm not sure I put him in the discussion with Jackson or Austin. (And Smith's resume is just about as limited as Austin's is in terms of proving things over a long duration).

He reminds me of a big Terry Glenn.

I wish. Terry Glenn was one of the most acrobatic receivers I've ever seen play. He also had hands made of velcro.

One thing I noticed about our WRs are, no one dives to make a catch on a badly thrown ball like TG used to do.

Austin reminds me of faster A. Boldwin.

...+1.

This is what my impression of Austin is. Good speed strong at the point of reception.

...back on any comparisons to Glenn right now.

Glenn had explosive speed off the line and easily shifted gears up and down to gain separation. He ran as good a route as any WR in the history of the NFL right up there with Steve Largent.

Miles isn't showing that type of skill yet. As another poster has said he hasn't shown the ability to break double coverage yet. Glenn could run past bracketed coverage when he first came to the Cowboys.

...Austin has had two passes in the past three weeks where if he would have laid out he could have had a decent chance at the reception.

This is another part of his game he has to work on. Sometimes you have to leave your feet to make the catch.

Even if you don't get it at least you gain the confidence of your QB that no matter what type of throw he puts up you will do everything in your power to go and get the ball.

Anquan Boldin is a pretty good comparison.

Imagine if we had Miles AND Boldin.

Holy...........

*disclaimer* I am not trying to turn this into a Roy bashing thread, merely stating that I think a Austin/Boldin duo would be pretty much unstoppable.

This.

I don't see the Glenn comparison at all.

Miles runs pretty good routes.. besides that, they're nothing alike.

No need to dive when the ball is thrown high.
