Miles has a lot of great tools to become a great WR.

He's big and fast. He's very tough to tackle and has good hands and is very good in jump ball situations.

Most defenses like to have one corner that is smaller, faster, quicker and better in pure coverage. Then they like to have a bigger, stronger corner to help with the run and use their physicality against WR's.

So if they put a smaller cover corner on Miles, he can just be more physical and catch jump balls and still beat them deep. If they go with a more physical corner, then Miles can give them trouble with his speed. I'm guessing we'll see a lot of safety help over the top, maybe some Cover 2 zone as Miles has struggle catching crossing patterns.

But, I really like what I see from him.

Broadus said on DCfanatics show that scouts in the organization felt like Miles should've been doing this stuff 2 years ago.

I still say actual opportunities were the reason why he didn't.

I agrre. It's difficult to catch the ball when they're force feeding HOS.

2 years ago there were glimpses of what he could do like in the Green Bay game with the two PI calls he drew. He was still horribly inconsistent.

Last year he was really coming on and then got that injury that set him back a bit. Then he came back and twisted his knee again unfortunately. If it weren't for those injuries, I think Miles would have established himself by the end of the year.

This year it looks like it is all coming together - knowing how to run the routes, catch balls in traffic, break tackles, etc. I really believe he is the real deal and will be our #1 WR. We have Crayton to be the #3. We now just need one of RW11, Ogletree, Hurd or one of the guys on the practice squad to take the #2 spot. In principle, it should be RW11 as he has had a few pretty productive years in Detroit and is still young. I am worried that his natural laziness kicked in once he got the big deal and that he is mailing it in in terms of effort on the field. His problem is that he is a possession receiver who runs bad routes but now also has questionable hands and alligator arms - he can turn it around but I don't know if he has the inner strength to do it.

Eskimo, I think the #2 will be RW11 because he has done it before. They guy has some amazing hands and I do not think he has alligator arms. Where do you have proof that he has alligator arms? I don't see that at all. He reached out in front of DJ Williams in Denver?? He got drilled but in actuality he shouldn't have even tried for that ball because it was uncatchable. I do agree that he needs to work on those routes and become a little crisper. But hey how good a route can you run if you have skis for feet, he wears a 17 I think. I would have trouble running full speed and rotating water skis on a route myself. :) Anyway, his ribs are jacked up right now... let them get better and I think a late season improved surge is in the cards.

The combination of RW11 and Austin is perfect in my opinion. A downfield threat that can also do the other things like go over the middle and break tackles, plus a big possession receiver with excellent hands who moves the chains.

Add Crayton in the slot or Ogletree in the future and we've got a potent receiving corps for LONG time. They're all young and will be with Tony throughout his career.

Roy pretty clearly pulled his arms back quickly on a square in route in Atlanta and the ball tricled off his fingers. That was one of the most textbooks cases of alligator arms that you will ever see. We were really struggling at that point and really needed that catch. In the end, it didn't matter because the rest of the offense started clicking.

If we could get back the Roy Williams from his first 3 years in the league I would be overjoyed - he looked like he was going to become a legitimate #1 WR and then he just seemed to lose it in his 4th year and then fell off the face of the planet in his 5th and first half of his sixth year.

He has suffered no major injuries that I know of so there is no physical reason he shouldn't be able to become a #1. I think it is all mental right now - he needs focus, dedication, maybe a sports psychologist could help him?

I just think we have guys on this roster that would be bigtime players if they just had more opportunities.

You know why Sam Hurd lights it up every training camp? Because he gets more opportunities.

He was awesome in the preseason too. His routes looked awesome and he will fight for the ball.

Regular season comes around and we dont look his way on a consistent basis until a clutch drive vs a top 2 AFC team and a top 3 Corner in the NFL.

He came up big early in the clutch drive but didn't at the end.

So now we don't really give the guy much of an opportunity.

There are examples all over this roster of guys who may be spectacular if given an opportunity.

Give Hurd more opportunities!
