He looked really good out there. Very fast, nice hands. He looked much better than in preseason. With Stanback, Hurd, Austin, and probably a draft pick (and possibly a healthy TG) I doubt we re-sign Crayton unless he's willing to be very cheap.

Strong, fast, and precise.

Looked alot like me out there earlier today.

We should have kept Urban instead of Austin :laugh2:

I doubt hes willing to be cheap as he is trying to get his name out there at every chance he gets.

Agreed. I was impressed with what he did after the catch.

Him and Hurd are the reasons I don't think we "Need" a first round WR next year.

I noted that too.

I turned to my wife and said, "You know that looks just like superpunk." :)

Hurd doesn't look like much more than a fourth wr to me.... Austin seems to have more physical gifts to work with (speed and size) than does Hurd.

I would still look for another wideout next offseason, but that's just me.

He can get his name out there all he pleases but WR's are typically at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to free agent dollars. I don't see Crayton getting a huge contract.

I would too... a "burner".

Crayton, Hurd, and Austin are all helped by the fact that TO commands so much attention. As long as TO is healthy and productive then I agree we don't "Need" a first rounder in 2008. The problem is TO is in his 30's (although he is in great shape and looks like he can play well for a few more years). He is also very expensive and only signed through 2008.

I think the point about drafting a receiver early most people are making is we need to find that next "#1" caliber receiver that will pair with Romo for the future beyond TO. We have a good stable of future #2 receivers to choose from, but I don't think any of these other guys are that "#1".

I don't think we should "reach" for a receiver in the 1st round if the value is not there, but if the right fit is available then this is a good time to do it since we have two 1st rounders. It would also give the player some time to develop since TO would still be the primary receiver.

Austin is a much better kick returner than Tyson that is for sure.

Austin looks like he is on the verge of going the distance here pretty soon.

I thought he looked good with the limited time. His catch in the middle of the field was nice and his little run afterwards was good too. Looked like he had a little spring in his step.

Agree 110% the guy is much faster then TP..

Austin is fast and he did a pretty good job today, but remember that it was only on some very easy to run patterns. No tough catches or anything. I like Hurd's potential a lot more really. He doesn't have the great speed, but he appears to have good hands, and great body control and leaping ability. Hurd reminds me a little of Antonio Bryant in terms of his body and athleticism, thankfully not his mind though.

I agree with your initial statement. It remains to be seen if Austin can make those tough catches and improve his body control.

But he has physical abilities that Hurd will never be able to match. And he can always improve on his receiving ability (given there was even noticeable improvement in his receiving ability today over preseason).

Some of us have been saying this for a while... Austin is a MUCH better athlete than Hurd.

(Ow. I just hurt my arm patting myself on the back.)

Hurd is a smart hard worker who can play all over the field plus special teams.

Laufenberg was raving about his work ethic and his hands on the radio today.

oh and I love seeing austin on the field. When he gets the ball in his hands he can become a breakaway player, he is big and fast.
