He stepped in it a while back...in his emotional state he called Marino a loser. Now given he hates to ever admit he made a mistake and he meant something else, he has to stick to what he said despite the stupidity that he knows it is...

He tried once to say Marino is not a champion but Dilfer is...but it just didnt stick and thus he went back to calling them loser because he wants to call Dak a loser. That's all that is about.

Dak has and always will be in that 7 to 12 range.

Everybody knows it. The strange part is the Cowboys up to this point have either asked him to do too little or too much depending on the coaching staff.

Here's hoping Dak's existing relationship with Schotty leads to the offense being built around what he does best. Big contract or not, this is year ten with Dak and the book on what he is should already be written. The Cowboys can get where they want to go with him if the scheme is tailored properly.

Don't have a problem with the contract that was given to Hurts. He was coming off an MVP runner-up season when they made him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

Don't have a problem with the contract that was given to Prescott, either, for the same reason. And I think Purdy's contract is slotted in where it should be given his level of success.

I don't really concern myself with what players make. It is generally what they are worth according to the market. That QBs are worth so much is just the way that it works. Your choice is to either pay them or hope you can find another one just as good, which is not easy to do.

Cleveland, which is the extreme example of how hard it is, has gone through 19 since the last time they had a really good one (Bernie Kosar), including multiple first-round picks. I mean, Mayfield has gone on to some success with Tampa, but overall that's an ugly list for the Browns.

He once tried to argue with me that Mac Jones was a solid NFL starter. It was at that point the "ignore" button came in handy. :lmao:
 
I don't know what did more damage. The injuries he has physically had or the mental damage he received in that last GB playoff loss. I think he is mentally broken and this team is going to be win 5 games this season. If the team plays well than maybe 7 games but I don't see Dak coming out of this well.

The last reason Raven won the superbowl was Dilfer.

So if you had to start a team knowing Marino lost the superbowl and Dilfer won it. Who would you pick?

I wouldn't care what players were paid if there wasn't a salary cap.

Mayfield has played well outside of Cleveland and Watson had some strong seasons before joining them. I think it illustrates that good/very good quarterbacks are unable to have any success on really bad teams and that's why they have had so many high draft picks.

My philosophy would be to focus on constructing a strong roster and riding a rookie QB contract and then drafting a competent rookie QB again before reaching the point of paying a premium for average QB play. If they have shown themselves to be elite then of course you pay them.

If they are in the Herbert category then it's fair enough for a franchise to pay a quarterback their first big contract.

But someone like Prescott in my view you really can't offer them top dollar given their poor performances on good teams. The 2023 team was of a superbowl calibre in my view and that was the season where it should have confirmed to everyone that Dak isn't good enough to get it done in Dallas.

To offer him a second record breaking contract last year was an absolute back breaker for the team and this will be played out over the next few years regardless of all the good work in the draft and free agency.

The last quarterback to be carried to a Superbowl was Peyton Manning. Ironic given he was one of the best to do it yet he was completely washed when he won in Denver. The Cowboys would have to assemble an elite and consistent defense like that. The elephant in the room is that it's so much easier to construct an elite defense if you aren't paying a limited quarterback like Prescott $60 million a season as you would get the same production from outlaying so much less.

I think fans get too caught up in the cap. Like I said, we've got $32 million that we're not using this year and will create more than that when we extend Parsons. This front office chooses to reward its own and be cheap with outside free agents. It's not a winning formula.

The salary cap is real. If the front office aren't able to manipulate it efficiently then that's on them but having another $30 million would allow them to really attack free agency and keep important players to build a strong roster.
