BraveHeartFan;2047966 said:This situation, rather Pacman knew him or not, does pose the ability to be a really long, drawn out, situation that could be a distraction or even could cause Goodell to say he isn't reinstating him until this little matter is entirely cleared up.
It's troublesome, to say the least.
I do now. My bad.superpunk;2048033 said:theogt got it.
SMCowboy;2048040 said:What is there to play out. The police have already said that the money was extorsion money. If Goodell trys to keep Pacman suspended over this, he is going to have some serious legal troubles coming his way. He is not judge, jury and executioner.
The courts would have final say over any matters if he abuses his power.StanleySpadowski;2048049 said:Yes he is the judge, jury and executioner. The CBA that the NFLPA agreed to makes him such.

Jones' lawyer has already said that he had every right to sue over the original suspension, but Jones decided to go ahead and drop that suit. So the courts will get involved.burmafrd;2048158 said:Courts will not get involved. Pacman agreed to abide by NFL rules when he signed his contract. NFL rules allow the Commissioner to be the sole judge on what is allowed and what is not and who can play and who cannot.

It was Jones' decision, the lawyer said he felt they would have won. I think the reason was the time it would have taken and the fact Jones and the Titans were already going into the divorce mode. At that point he felt it was better to go along with the commissioner and wait for his reinstatement.Kangaroo;2048209 said:Yea that's a lot of lawyer fluff that went no where because if he really thought he could win he would have done it and at least force the NFL to compromise with a shorter suspension
So if his lawyer really believed that and did not pursue the issue then he dropped the ball

SMCowboy;2048123 said:Exactly, if Goddell starts to abuse his powers you can bet that there will be repercusions. People that think that Goodell can do as he pleases, do you really think that he could get away with just suspending players because he feels like it. Of course not, if he extends PacMans suspension, then he had best have a very good reason, and there has been nothing that has come up since he was suspended that would qualify as a good reason to suspend him.
