My understanding is an employer can fire you for any reason, unless it is a reason already prohibited by law (race, religion, etc...). What charge or allegation will Pacman level against the NFL??? Failure to let me play again??? Failure to hire me back after a suspension?

If your employer told you that, their lying. Wrongful termination is a very popular lawsuit nowadays. If conditions covering the termination are not right, the person suing has a very good chance of making a case.

Since the NFL office is located in NYC the state of NY should have jurisdiction over decisions made by Goodell as it pertains to policies and terminations. Even though Pacman is employed by Dallas, Roger has the authority to ban someone from playing in the league.

I think you can compare this to something like if you have multiple companies (teams) in an office building (league) and the building has a management that provides security. If the building bans one of the companies employees from entering the building how do they work? But that same employee can sue the building management for wrongfully affecting his employment.

Cobra & Doomsday, sorry for the delayed response, my connection here is not the fastest. I see your points about the unions, I think that the unions would only argue the case within the NFL review process. It will be up to Pacman to take it to a civil court should the NFL deny reinstatement after the review process was completed not in favor of Pacman.

Pacman as a member of the union also has to live up to the conduct policy that has been set down and agreed upon by the league and his union. Pacman was also given some stipulation that he was to follow if he expects to be reinstated. The NFL is not preventing him from working he can play football else where there is no law that says the NFL must hire anyone

He thought Pacman ordered a hit. So a person you have never met orders you to off someone and you do it? Or you don't know someone and order them to off someone?

I am a big time skeptic of Pacman Jones, but come on...

This is exactly why i say that unless its shown that they had a history together before that night in Vegas i could care less.

The guys girlfriend said she was there with her so that makes that unlikely.

But hey Florio needs something to get peoples attention.

The conduct policy is irrelevant. Goodell can do whatever he wants thanks to Upshaw's bending over to take it for the league one more time.

It is not just Upshaw. Players went to Goodell and wanted change including Jason Witten. Many players are tired of seeing the image of the game tarnished and being lumped in with the thugs. Frankly I don’t blame them one bit

Can you imagine this guy on the witness stand?

Prosecutor: "Why did you go back into the club to fire your weapon?"

Shooter: "I felt Pacman had ordered a hit."

Prosecutor: "So you admit, under oath, that you are a hitman?"

Idiot.

Ahh...Florio's at it again, making stuff up and not even making any sense by his own fluff. Let's see, according to Florio that Pacman states that some guy he had never met said he would take care of the situation and Pacman said "whatever" which means that Pacman actually ordered a hit. :bang2: And that paying off money to a person in fear that he would physically come after him and/or his family makes Pacman the bad guy? Does Florio know about the "stop snitching" motto in today's inner cities and what people do to "snitches?"

Nice to see Florio forget that if Pacman doesn't get reinstated then the Cowboys get their 4th round pick back in 2009.

The players wanted harsher penalties. The players did not want complete unilateral control given to the commisioner. It was a stupid stupid move by Upshaw.

I hope you realize that Upshaw all but gave up a players right to appeal anything. An arbitrator no longer oversees appeals but rather the commish himself which is a waste of time.

Dont throw the baby out with the bath water and all that.

The players had a say so in this. Upshaw is not taking this all on his own. Upshaw himself after the meeting with Goodell and several players was surprised how strong the players felt about this. Bottom line is the only one who has hurt players like Pacman and Crish Henry is themselves and have no one to blame but themselves.

Exactly i just am trying to think of how any sane person would go and shoot people because of what some really pissed off person that you have not met before says.

I do not doubt for a second that Pacman and his posse were screaming that they were going to get retribution on the bouncers. Apparently they were getting their backsides handed to them while being bounced and they had the better part of 100k stolen from them.

At the same time I just don't see how anyone could justify using that as an excuse to go on a shooting rampage unless they are people that you know and are close with.

What i think happened is that this guy got bounced with the rest of them. Didnt like that they had gotten jobbed by a couple of white guys and so he decided that words were not enough and went and started shooting. It fits right in with the typical macho respect nonsense that you hear comingfrom bangers the world arounnd.

Again there is no question that the players wanted something done. They gave Upshaw a mandate to do something to curtail players being repeat offenders and getting lax punishment.

UPSHAW THREW THE APPEALS PROCESS IN THE TOILET.

Find me one player that said that wanted to renounce their right to appeal. You won't because it would be a colossally stupid thing to do.

No doubt Goodell is the final word but he also has the backing of the Player Advisory Council that he meets with on a regular basis that is made up of current players
