There's never been a successful NFL running back with a size-speed combo as poor as Deuce's. That's really the long and short of it.
Its not its the opinion of the very few. there never been a deuce Vaughn so how do you know? show me all those players of his size and speed who had over 5k scrimmage yards in 3 years and a productive college career in big college conference that didn't have any success in the NFL. i can show you about 100 who were allegedly blue chip top prospects in the 1st round that were busts...

Its like saying that short players cant pay basketball then payers like Nate and spuds show up and can dunk and pay in the NBA..anomalys happen, this kids football players, hes a gamer, hes already proved all his detractors wrong up to this point and has shot to do so in the nfl.. what's wrong with fans pulling for him hes 212th overall pick, no risk at all , all upside...

It all depends on how the coaches use him. One things for sure, they won’t be running him between tackles.
why not you think Big 12 OL/DL and lBs aren't Big?? you think hes scared? let the OL open holes and let him run through them same as in college. if all you do is run him outside and on open field stuff the D will key on him every time he runs in and shut it down. you cant have success long term giving the D keys on what's coming.. if the D doesn't know what's coming and the Line executes, the FB executes RBs can have success..

I remember this Noah comes in was always run he was always a blocker and that didn't work.. when he became receiving target now the d didn't know run or pass, same with pollard eventually we used him in the full offense not just outside.

I’m not questioning his heart or talent. He won’t be used as a traditional RB because of his size.

Someone on here said that if Deuce was 4 inches taller, he would have been a 2nd or 3rd round pick based on what he did in college.

I can't predict the future but this sure will be an interesting study in player evaluation. His college box scores are that of an elite back. His measurements are those of a non-NFL player. Which one wins?

People just keep missing his extreme elusiveness. Dude is not a starter, but that's OK. He has all the appearances of an extremely effective gadget player and an open field beast. And should be a good returner. Only reason he stopped returning kicks is because he became a full time starter.

Simply cannot evaluate him as a typical RB, which for some strange reason many are insisting on doing.

Well it is not like we are gonna ask Duece to be rb1 or even rb2, but I do think he is going to contribute and contribute he should in both the running and passing game. Give him a good screen play and he could be dangerous (I know I know what is a screen play u ask.... )
If used correctly, he can be a real contributer to this offense.

I don't pretend to be able to predict the future. I agree that his stats and tape are excellent. Those saying that he gets stuffed a lot should re-watch the Texas-Alabama game for Bijan. OTOH, there are a lot of good college players that simply can't do it in the pro's and Deuce's physical stats are working against him.

I'm rooting hard for the kid but definitely not absolutely sure of the outcome either way.

Malik Davis is the back-up. Vaughn is headed to the PS unless he impresses then Jones might be out of a spot.

I watched a couple of games with Deuce Vaughn, and although he has some wiggle, and broke off some good runs in college, he also has an awful lot of plays where he gets stopped at the line of scrimmage. Due to his slight build, he gets swallowed up easily. I expect he will have an awful lot of carries in the NFL that go for zero yards - more than fans will be willing to tolerate.

He’s a great story, and I wish the kid well. But just based on their bodies of work to date, I have more trust that Ronald Jones will be a better back up to Pollard than Vaughn. Of course, I am MORE THAN WILLING to be wrong, but I don’t have a lot of hope that Vaughn will become a meaningful contributor in the Cowboys offense - at least not until he bulks up considerably. But even if he does, he still doesn’t have the break-away speed that you’d like to see in a backup gadget type RB.

Sorry to fans of Deuce, but that’s my honest opinion. I would have preferred picking Tucker out of Syracuse.

Yea, he's likely not a workhorse between the tackles at this level.
So give him the ball in space...

Absolutely.

His success comes down to one thing. Elusiveness. If he has the quickness to stay out of their reach, he can succeed.
