Misplaced Linehan Rage

Did anyone not see the debacle of the other QBs not named Tony trying to run this offense?

Our system has been called predictable by opposing defenses for 8+ years and will continue to be called that until we make a serious change. Some people are working overtime to blame Dak for an offensive system that stopped working in 1995.

This Offense isn’t stripped down or simplified for Dak. It’s wide open. It’s a 90’s playbook that consists of index card with about 7 plays. Linehan has to call plays from JG playbook. He playcalling has predictable timing.

We need a OC with his own playbook. Some creative stuff. If we got him during the season the team would have a chance to install it and get practice at it during real game speed instead of practice.

Exactly! The playbook is wrong for Dak. Dak needs a proper Reid-style WCO.

Whatever Dak is, that dosen't excuse the absurdity of running on every first down and not using Dak on the read option when it has repeadedly worked in prior games when the game and season clearly needed it and called for it.

Newton has looked immensely better with a new OC. No reason we should not see if that can help here.

I think we ran ONE RPO the whole game. Yes, Dak has issues but this is just DUMB.

Has Dak ever failed to score on a keeper inside the 10? I'd rather have seen that than a pass that was forced into double coverage.

We need another Troy Aikman. Can't find him if we won't spend draft capital on the most important position on the team.
That wouldn't be enough. The Cowboys had a better QB than Aikman for a decade and didn't win anything.

Dak can check out of any run and Decide to call a Pass . He doesnt

So stop blaming Linehan because he has no sacks .

NFL QB's can audible out of any play . Dak is just without any nuts

I find it higly unlikely that Dak has that freedom seeing as how they run on first down every single time every game, all season long. The two teams doing this so much are the Titans and Cowboys. This is CLEARLY by DESIGN.

Everyone else has alot more evenly distributed run/pass ratio

Yeah, later in his career.

Is this some mystery?

You watch Dak and Romo and the primary difference between the two in your eyes is extending plays?

It's a big difference because Romo got out of loads of bad plays.

Dak is stuck in them.

I agree it's like having a team full of Shaq's and everyone wondering why you don't shoot 3s like the Warriors. There's a reason on third and 10+ we throw a screen pretty much every time, Linehan doesn't trust Dak. Pretty much every issue we have with our offense goes back to inadequate qbing, bad line play, struggling running game, wr-te production, it all falls on Dak and the decision to put all our eggs in that basket in 2016.

Great analogy!

It is like having Shaq as your point guard and lamenting "if we just had better coaches and play-calling he'd be nailing 3-pointers!!!"

No, they had a better stat collector. We need a better QB. One who can actually win big games, like Troy or Roger. Not some Rudy Ruettiger over-achieving choker.

Romo was an amazing QB according to most professional NFL HC's that have stated their opinion on him.

So what happened ? ... Jason Garrett happened .

Agreed. Enough of the regular season HOFers, baseball players and mobile QBs.

Dak certainly has flaws but the offense is way too predictable
Running on every first down isn’t making it simpler for the QB, it’s making it harder

No because this offense was crap before Dak and even before Linegan.

I dislike Garrett and Linehan as much as the next fan (if not more in the case of Garrett), but has anyone given thought that the offense (particularly the passing game) is oversimplified and predictable as a byproduct of the QB?

The reality is we don't have a guy with arm talent back there that's comfortable sitting in the pocket, making his progressions and throwing receivers open.

Instead, our passing game is stripped down to predominantly quick reads, comeback routes where a receiver is running to a spot waiting for the ball.

I would also add if your QB has to be rolled-out or use PA to try to create throwing windows and separation for receivers so your QB can feel comfortable making a throw, you're severely handicapping your offense.

I want Garrett and Linehan gone today, but replacing him doesn't make Dak more accurate, poised or savvy.

Two things can be equally true: 1) Garrett and Linehan are part of the problem and 2) Dak is not the answer

Dak is here because of our dysfunctional organization that can't evaluate talent. Same reason Garrett and Linehan are here.

False. This offense has been bland and predictable since the end of Garrett's first season as OC in 2007. Remember, he started off hot. We were like 10-1 or something. He was the hot, new playcaller. Everyone was marveled. Then in the final quarter of that season until today, which is 11 years, this offense has been junk. I am not a Romo fan and he's not a winning QB at all but what he could do was change the play and mask this terrible offensive scheme by ad libing. That is not really Dak's game.

But I had no complaints about the 2016 offense. While not explosive, it was the most efficient offense in the NFL in most metrics. That was light years ago, though. We are now close to Buffalo Bills level of inept offense.

No because the offense was bland and basic with Romo as well.

Linehan took that offense and handed the ball of more in it.

The difference is Romo is not here to run around and extend bad plays. Dak has to run the bad plays because he doesn't extend plays often.
Catch, there has been several clips each week online showing that receivers are open.

Does this scheme suck? Yes, but the QB sucks even more than the scheme
