What does that have to do with discipline? Are you in the Marines or have you ever served in the Marines?

I thought you said you didn't know what I was talking about? Typical Amber here.

No, I was not a Marine but that has nothing, at all, to do with the discussion. However, since I suspect I know where you are going with this, I do know a little about the Corps and it's current state. I have a Son who has recently gotten out of the Corps. He has said many, many times that the Corps is not the same as it was before and that discipline, as a whole has deteriorated. For reasons I can not go into, it is not a personal opinion of mine, specific to the Marines but, it is an opinion of a Marine who has carried a weapon in a rifle company, not all that long ago.

How bout you, you active duty? Do you know the state of the troops or their Commanders currently? When's the last time you were deployed and spent any time with our fighting men in the field?

My unit is in the field all the dang time. Our discipline is fine.

And its not about whether or not the discipline has "gone down hill". Those soldiers are my family (the high speed soldiers and dirt bags alike) and I don't appreciate people from outside my family talking about my family.

Well said. Especially when said people just spout off some generalistic comment as fact as if they are the Oracle of military discipline.

I know you must be looking forward to your new hats :D

That's understandable, but I don't really think this is about the Soldiers. I think it goes way higher then that. Still in all, your point is well taken Rack.

That's not what freedom of speech means.

"Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas using one's body and property to anyone who is willing to receive them."

(Not freedom of speech, lol.)

You bolded the wrong words. You should have bolded political right. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can get away with saying whatever you want anywhere you want. It just means the government isn't going to put you in jail for speaking out politically.

For instance this forum has rules, and they can certainly ban someone for breaking the rules. One of the rules on this board is no political speech. It's rule 7.

Just like I have the right to request they stop talking bad about the military?

Good job making this a political thread, Denim.

How is saying discipline is down amongst soldiers and two old warhorses complaining about it, talking bad about the military? It only is if you are one who thinks that the second you sign up you are immune to criticism.

Someone wasn't kissed enough as a kid. Get help.

You ARE turning this into a political thread. Thus breaking the rules.
